Common problem, easily solved. The downloaded file already contains Patch commands and you should strip them out.
MIDI runs on a timeline and if there is a Patch command at the very beginning of a file, but you insert one with the cursor anywhere else, well, the first command may be overriding yours, ezpecially if yours happens before theirs on the timeline. The transport will start to roll, it sees your Patch command and dutifully changes to that Patch, but right after it is the old command, which changes it back to the Instrument Patch the original MIDIOT imbedded in the file!
Use the MIDI Event List to locate the original Patch Change and Patch Select commands for El Bass -- and delete them, or change them to the Patch you desire. Then save the file as .MID or .SEQ.
