Hi All,
I've got BiaB 2009.5 working fine on Win7 64bit, no problems. I have everything installed and running on my internal hard drive. I ordered the 2010 DVD upgrade option, since I only needed the new apps and latest RTs and it just arrived. I'm noticing that some folks are working through bugs that appear to still be lurking in 2010.
Before I try to install 2010, I'd like to make sure I at least install it using the right method. I just read some forum postings where folks seemed to be installing in seperate directory's to resolve 2010 problems, and I don't need any problems. I went looking in the readme and in the forums to find out whether you just install 2010 in the same bb directory, over top of 2009.5 or if you're supposed to remove 2009.5 first. I'm betting we're just supposed to use the setup.exe on disc and install over top of 2009.5, but I don't want to screw this up and create program problems that have to do with an improper installation. Any tips as to the best way to do the install to avoid problems or should I just use setup.exe, as in the past?
If, in fact, folks are experiencing real significant software issues with 2010, would anyone recommend holding off until the next patch release and just installing the new RTs for now? I do need to be using a solid, working version of BiaB.
Thanks for any and all input.

Glen, For the majority of people, BIAB has installed fine. I suggest that you do not remove 2009.5. The usual principle is to simply install the latest edition straight over the top of the existing edition. This protects any custom styles, settings, etc., that you might have devised. I have been doing this for 4 years now and I've never had a problem. The MOST important thing to do before installing is to read any readme files that might be on the DVDs. I also mention, that many of the problems related to installing have been USB-drive problems. Often it was because of failure to read the accompanying literature prior to attempting installation. The below point in the FAQ page might give some information. http://www.pgmusic.com/techfaq17.htm#84I put 2010 on Vista a couple of weeks back and its worked like a dream. If you are in doubt, just save a duplicate copy of your 2009.5 directory under another name (hard drive space permitting), before installing. Then you can easily delete the new installation if you need to. Also, keep in mind that since you are on a 64-bit operating system, the VSC/DXi cannot install. If you wish to use a software synthesiser, you would need to get Forte DXi by Coyote. As you are running 2009.5 already, you are probably aware of this. Regards, Noel

Mac stays up too late. Needs a hobby badly. LOL...
And it's 5:30 a.m. and I up early but I have to get the wife ready for work and she's gotta put out the garbage before she leaves......I'm making her coffee now! As soon as I get off this chair.
Darn woman bought me one of those huge white fluffy bathrobes you get in a 5 star hotel for Christmas. I just wanna snuggle. I put on the hi-def fireplace tv station, I wish someone would invent a woodsmoke scented candle, but that thing can warm me up on cold mornings.

Actualy, I awoke kind of early. Couldn't sleep, so I got back up.
Then after a bit, I took a wee nap in the big chair...

Those "wee" naps are the snizzle! I particularly like to put on one of those kinda quiet sports like Golf, tennis, and even Baseball, and nod off. Every know and then you wake to " kendrix has a lifetime batting average of 272 .... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

With me its not sports nor TV anymore, for that matter, I like to doze off to Bible Study on mp3's these days. Kind of like the old subconcious learning methods I used to use when at university, it works for me. With enough repetition, that is...

First, a big thank you to Noel96 for taking the time to provide such a thorough, thoughtful, polite and helpful response to address my nerves, concerning a botched install. Figured as much really, but just wanted input from someone who's had some experience with 2010 to "tuck me in". Awesome and very much appreciated. You have my respect. I see you're from Australia. Cool. One of our friends daughters was sent off by our church last Sunday to Hillsongs Australia. Make room for a Canadian.
Now as to those "other two" who used my very technical thread to chat back and forth, I keep some weird hours myself, so I thought the chat was pretty funny. LOL YOu guys didn't exactly calm my fears, but I got a chuckle instead. Drop in any time!
Mac, I clicked on the audio link to audiominds and thot that was pretty cool. Just what I need... something else to keep me up at night reading, as I continue my own musical recording journey. I'm betting there's some real practical stuff in there I'll find useful. Always more to learn. Trust you had a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hello Glen,
Here is a simple way to make a backup of your current Band-in-a-Box folder without having to make copies of all of the large audio files.
1. Open your Band-in-a-Box folder 2. Press Ctrl+A to select everything. 3. Hold down the Ctrl key, and click on the Drums and RealTracks to deselect them. 4. Press Ctrl+C to copy. 5. Create a new folder called bb2009, open it, and press Ctrl+V to paste.
