I create excellent backtrax in BB2010 and drag and drop successfully into Reaper.
However when I am working in Reaper all is well until I start adding effects to the tracks. Reverb, EQ etc. My system then starts to slow down and eventually freezes.
This doesnt happen in Real Band?
Could it be my cpu or that I am working in 24 bits 44.1khz?

Could be both.
Plugins load into ram, too.
Realtime plugins can make quite a bit of cpu load.
When you say, "this doesn't happen in..." well, if the program is running all by itself when you say that, it is a different situation than running BiaB plus the program at the same time. That *should* use more resources.
BiaB and RB share the same basic DX plugin lineup...

Plotzie I do the exact same thing as you and have no problems but I have a much more powerful PC. I assume you are using BIAB in plugin mode so maybe you can close the program once you transfer the tracks into Reaper. I also try to make sure all my tracks in both Reaper and BIAB are at 44.1 kHz sample rate to reduce load on the cpu. I already posted a reply to you on the Reaper forum.
