Has anyone figured out the cause of these "Access Violation at 0089037D in module bbw.exe." errors that lock up the song in BIAB and prevent you from ever playing it again? They are killing me. I've lost more than half a dozen songs so far. I can open the file in RB but that doesn't help since I wasn't finished. I've lost one particular song at least four times now. I've lost more hours of work than I care to admit. I've started saving the song under different names as often as I can remember so that I can at least go back to the last version but as soon as I get on a roll and forget to save, I get the error and lose everything.
I can't figure out what is triggering the errors. Does anyone at PG Music have a clue why the errors are happening?
I want to throw this thing through the wall.

Well, tell us about your system (hardware, software) so maybe someone can provide a clue. What you are experiencing is certainly unusual. No such stuff here.

I running 32 bit Windows XP on an AMD Athlon 64-bit processor 3200+ 2.00 GHz, 1 gig of RAM. I have BIAB 2010 with build 292 that I am running off the USB drive. (I just noticed that 293 is on the site so I will upgrade momentarily.) I have 43 gig of free space on my hard drive.
When I looked at the BIAB system info it thinks I am running Windows NT on an Intel Pentium chip, but I don't know if that matters.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in a time crunch and these errors have cost me more than a week-and-a-half of work.
I know that others have had similar issues (Moo is one) because I have read about them but no one seems to have a fix.
Thanks to everyone. Sorry to be a downer but I am really frustrated.
Thanks again.

Ricky, have you installed the latest update, #293? If you have, just double-check that it BIAB agrees with you. You can find the update info using the top menu and Help >> About Band In A Box. The update number is in parentheses after the version number.
(I notice from the above that we must have been posting at the same time!)

One suggestion, can you install the BIAB and RB onto you internal drive (keep the RT's and RD's ) on the external. Might be a communication problem between the external drive and your system.

Got the same goofy Windows NT stuff here also.

Hey Noel. I just downloaded it after I posted the system info.
I just now went in and tried to open the files that kept locking up earlier and they played!!! Hopefully the fixes fixed the issues. I won't know for sure until it locks up again. Or hopefully, doesn't.
As of right now, I seem to be okay but I will have a better idea tomorrow when I spend another 10+ hours using the program.
Thanks to all for your help.

Thanks for the info Jazz. If the update didn't fix the issue, I will put the programs on my hard drive, although I don't know if I have enough space. How much room does BB and RB need? Is there any advantage in terms of speed for either scenario?
Thanks again Jazz!!!

TIP: Whenever I have to do long sessions with BiaB, I make it a habit to take breaks about once every hour to shut down BB and reboot the puter.
Get my spent resources back.
I know, I know, we shouldn't have to, but it seems to keep things working much happier here, clearing out the RAM, rebooting the OS, etc. like that.

Sounds good Mac. I will definitely give that a shot in the future. Wish my computer didn't take so long to reboot. :-(

Mine takes a long time, too.
I get up, walk away, go make more coffee or get some fresh air or somethin'.
That also helps clear the creative mindset up a bit for me.

Windows XP is NT, just reworked somewhat. The report saying it's NT shows up in many applications.
