I froze all the instruments and saved the file. When I opened it in RealBand the one RealTrack was not the one I saved in BB. I was able to regerate a few times and get the one I want, but isn't the point of freezing so that I don't have to do that?

Also, I had a RT solo in a song and when I opened it in RB, it turned the solo into a midi file. How do I prevent that?

Thanks for your help.

Boy, that is some strange stuff going on. First can't image how a "RT Solo" can be converted into a midi track? The RT's are wave files. I think you have to start simple and learn how BIAB and RB work and how they interact between each other.

Try this, instead of opening your BIAB file in RB, try R-Click on the Green Radial Button with the RT Name, then select "Save RT as wav...", then import the wav file into RB. See if that give you the exact version of the RT. I can't tell you for sure in advance since that is not the way i do it. Instead I do all my RT selection over in RB then I get exactly what I want and it stays.

There's a MIDI track for every RealTrack that supports Notation.

Maybe that's what you saw.

It would have no volume or velocity though, and should not sound if sent to a MIDI synth, it is just there to print the notes.

Thanks for the info guys. All I can tell you is that when I opened it in RB and it gererated everything, it didn't have the RT for the solo. Instead, on the BB Solo track, it is playing the notes using '19: Rock Organ'. I am using the George Fiddle Solo realtrack in BB.

Tried to repeat what you did. I put the George Fiddle Solo in the Soloist track of BiAB. Saved the file. Opened it in RB. And all was just as expected. Nothing was in the BB Soloist Track and the Fiddle wav was entered down below in the lower audio tracks.

Sometimes things don't work right.

Our problem here is that there could be any number of causes for such a problem and it is very difficult when we cannot see every step that a user is making. If those of us who are hardcore users with the software could see that, we might spot something happening or a setting somewhere or the like, perhaps a Style loading where it shouldn't or something like that -- and the problem is solved.

I suggest that the person with the problem try again, starting from scratch with a new songfile. It may just be that their songfile is corrupted or the like.

Mac there is a real cool free program ot there called teamviewer, it allows you to e-mail a .EXE file to someone who opens it and e-mails back a code and you can take a look at their screen and even use their mouse to check problems. Sure speeds up helping folks!

I saw this same thing several weeks ago prior to one of the new builds. Updating to the latest build fixed the problem.

I had the same occurance with a solo instrument. The Bass, Drums and Guitar all were able to transfer from BIAB to RB without problem. However, a trumpet part was changed from this beautiful solo to this sterile ping-pong sounding MIDI file. You mentioned that it can depend on end user configurations. But, I hope there would be a better answer. It is a bummer when you get a nice solo, move it to RB to continue composing only to discover this dread awful MIDI tone.

Thank goodness for these replies from folks with similar issues. I was starting to think I was a complete moron...or going crazy.

Not that I am not either of those things...but at least I feel better. :-)
