Such a beautiful touching love song. I'm a huge fan of Janice's singing and wonderful harmony but I could've done without any harmony at all on this song. I thought the lead vocal was powerful enough to drive this intimate song on it's own. Just my opinion of course, Terrific however you slice it FJ.

Very touching lyrics, so much meaning in few simple words. I really like the vibrato in your voice and the "please believe i love you" is amazing vocal highlight, Janice's voice gives nice support. And the arrangement is well-structured, instruments are nicely introduced.

there`s some skillful poetry in that!
Love that vulnerable hint of falsetto on your "please",( I agree with Dave, this is right up there with your best vocal performances), the panned guitars, and naturally, Janice joining in, are also standouts.

A beautiful song with an excellent 3rd verse lyric.
The build up is so well done...and the moment the cello joins is sublime.
Your mixes always sound great to me. I'm envious of your ability to shape BIAB tracks just the way you want.
In the past I've looked at some of your posts about mixing hints and I wish you'd compile all your stuff into one post/video/handbook! Phil - It is nice to see you drop in! Glad you liked this. And it is nice to know that someone gets something out of the bits that I have posted about mixing. I wish it were easier to show that process, but I'm not really set up for it... those YouTube guys always make it look so easy....

Lovely song, performance & arrangement.
The 1st time through NEED from need to know is a little aggressive and made me jump.
At 2.43 there's comp keyboard style click, though it may be string or pick noise, that you may be able to erase. It's no big deal but the song is intimate and quiet at that point so it sticks out.
Lovely, lovely song & Ms. Merritt merits particular praise for her gorgeously warm bvox. Ray - I agree that "need" is rather aggressive and could have been tamed a bit. I hadn't heard (or paid attention to) the squeak. It is an acoustic guitar string squeak - which I generally don't mind if they are not very prominent. Often trying to remove them causes more harm than good... Thanks for nice review...

Wow!!! You and Janice deliver goosebumps material with this one *shiver*.
Your vocals are incredibly powerful to listen to... they are filled with honesty and sincerity and intimacy all rolled up together. The direct address point of view is a really powerful choice. If I was sitting beside someone special while I listened to the two of you singing this, these lyrics would have felt like they were written especially for that moment.
floyd, when you compose and produce songs like this, all I can think of saying is "What a wonderful gift you have!"
Janice and floyd.... your songs should be on the international market! They are THAT good.

The arrangement is so good. The acoustics were well played and recorded. The production is out of this world. This may be your best overall effort. I am truly stunned to the depth of my emotions. It's simply not easy to create a song that sounds this simple ... it's a really, really tough challenge. But, as always, you ended up with the arrangement and perfect presentation. Your vocal range is extraordinary as you lose no depth and quality in the upper register and your lower register is full and powerful. The cello was so nice and the acoustic background was just enough without being too much.
And Janice is such a wonderful vocalist in her on right. When her harmonies come in ... is like velvet.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
