[sorry to post so soon again, but I'm using the app a lot these days & I want to get all my old bugaboos out of the way so I can have a pretty fast workfow]...
tried to enter lyrics yesterday for a new song...I was going to my piano man's studuio to debut the song for him; & wanted to print the chords AND lyrics.
for the life of me...I can't figure out how to enter lyrics so that they are aligned correctly w/ the chords. sometimes I need to kind of stretch them out...sometimes I need to slide them forward or backward...sometimes they need to be consolidated, etc.
1) is there a way to gaurantee precise placement on the page in notation view ???
2) how about if I need to change the font size (of the lyrics)...or the font style, for that matter ?
thanks again,
dox

Hello dox,
You should use note-based lyrics instead of line-based. With line-based, you just type in lyrics line by line in the little space above the staff (is that what you are doing?). With note-based, you click the [L] button, and enter lyrics in the little box. Press Enter or Tab to move to the next note, or Shift+tab to move back. This will only work if you have a melody. If you don't have a melody, you could temporarily enter some notes, enter your lyrics (so that they are inserted at a specific location), and then delete the notes. You can adjust the font and size of note-based lyrics in the notation window options.

yeah...but that's the problem...they seem to wind up all over the map.
will attempt note-based...thanks again,

Doxology, I know what you mean as if you don't have a file with lead notes, there are no notes to type lyrics to. I use BIAB 99% for live performance vocal and guitar accompainment, with that said my files do not have any melody tracks, I supply the melody (or try to anyway ) via vocal and/or guitar solos. I have also added this to the wishlist a few times but in reality I guess the PG guys are doing all they can as maybe note based lyrics are all the software can handle. Actually if there was a way to get the lyrics in the big window, even if they do not roll in time to the music it would be a plus. Until then I will continue to use the memo pad as a lyric cheat sheet. Peter did act on my request to make that font adjustable in 2010 and I am very grateful for that as it helps me not to squint so darn much. Take care,

If you have no melody, you might try the method of entering a "temporary melody" to allow you to enter note-based lyrics. This allows you to associate the words with a specific time in the event list. Enter a note (any note) per beat in the first bar, then copy and paste to the second bar, repeating the paste X number of times. Then you can enter note-based lyrics. Later, you can delete your melody, leaving only the lyrics. It might sound complicated but is actually fairly easy to set that up.

Before we had Note-Based Lyrics, I used to enter spaces and dashes on the Line Based Lyrics to keep the words happening in the same general area as the music.
This is best done in Notation View, where you can follow the song 4 bars or 3 bars at a time.
Way, --- down u---pon the --- Swan-eee - Ri- Ver------------
Like that.

Thanks Andrew and Mac . . . but as your suggestions would indeed be another way to "skin the proverbial cat" if one were starting from scratch entering an arrangement, but when you have 500 plus tunes to add lyrics to nothing short of a copy and paste operation would be feasible.
PS: But from here on with new stuff I may be inclined to give it a try.
Thanks guys,

I often open a txt or word document file of some sort that has lyrics in it at the same time as BiaB is open.
Then I highlight, cut and paste lyrics into BiaB from there.
This works particularly well with the older line-based lyrics as I can highlight an entire phrase or sentence at a time, by the bar count, paste it into the lyrics slot in Notation View and then just add spaces or dashes inserted to make things line up.
