When I render wav files and import them into another program, the tempo is incorrect. Plays fine but the tempo

I import into either Cubase Le or my RC50. This is a minor problem with Cubase but I'd like to sync it to the click on the RC50 but cannot because adjusting the exported file tempo in this device affects playback. I suppose this only makes sense for those using looper devices.

Any suggestions for locking in the tempo with the wav file data?

Have you checked that your soundcard is set to let BIAB take control of it? It might be that your soundcard is rendering at 48000 Hz whereas BIAB operates at only 44100 Hz. This will affect tempo and pitch slightly.

Thanks but that's not it.

The file plays fine and at the right tempo (85bpm). When I import it into another program, it shows the tempo as 120bpm.

The problem is when I adjust the click track (guide) tempo on the RC50 looper to the correct numerical value (85bpm), it changes the speed of playback as well (slower than 85bpm). This isn't the case for recording software because the metronome is independent.

I don't know anything about how wav files are saved but is there some master property file that can be changed?

There is no Tempo data associated with a .wav file.

If the Tempo is being changed, it must be being changed by the Looper.

The default Tempo in most all recording software is 120. So it was already set to that. And as you saw, it does not matter where that is set, the wav file you imported should just chug along at whatever it was recorded at, in this case, 85.

Check the manual for that Looper, there may be a way to set its Tempo to 85 first and then import the .wav file, dunno. But the problem is most certainly something that has to do with the Looper device.

Thanks Mac. I would tend to agree. Perhaps I can dig into the manual deeper and find how to do this.

My solution for now is to export at 120 then adjust to the tempo I need in the looper. An extra step but it works fine.

I seem to have several issues with the wav rendering in BiaB. I have to add two measures at the end of every song because the program chops two measures during render. The other is if I uncheck the box include the two bar intro, it cuts two bars off the front end.
I have to import the file into cubase and cut the two measures out manually.

Still, despite these minor glitches, BiaB is a great program.

There is a box at the lower right of the Render window where you can do that, enter a 2 in there and try it.

That is working as intended. So don't uncheck that box.

Are you trying to remove the two bar countin (drum taps)?

If so, there is *another* checkbox to do that in the Render window.

Difference between "countin" and "Intro" -- if that's the problem.

"Intro" refers to any notes placed on the Melody or Soloist track that play before the song actually starts. "Pickup" notes. If you don't have any, still safe to leave that one checked.

Check out the tempo patch settings in the Looper.

There are various ways to assign the tempo, one of which does not affect the playback speed.

Customers at my parents music store are very impressed with that little device.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Thanks Mac.

I have found that the RC-50 has a master tempo setting for each phrase (loop) that allows you to enter the original tempo of the wave file.

The actual loop tempo is locked to the playback.

Thanks for the link. I'll check out the pdf pamphlet....
And, yes, this unit is awesome. I am using it with a live jazz trio to fill out the sound. Being able to arrange on the fly is awesome. The multiple output options are a real plus too.
