Carvin stuff is generally good stuff...

If Hartley's sales rep doesn't want to demo, then he doesn't want a sale IMO.

At that point, the Carvin order would be the same thing, no demo, but they are known for great customer service, much as PGMusic along those lines, so getting it from Carvin and trying it out should be rather painless. That and the Carvin is very likely to sound great, work great and do what you want it to do.

Incidentally, this year at NAMM, Carvin introduced the BX1500 Bass that puts out 1500W RMS, or 900W into 4 ohms, (!) that only weighs about 12 pounds. Impressive use of the latest technology, switching power supply plus class D digital power amps, two power amps in the thing that can be bridged if necessary.
