Hi All, I wonder if anyone can help as I have a few problems with my 2010 BIAB. I'm running Windows 7 32bit on a Dell PC [ AMD 2.91gh - 4gb memory]. I'm using and Edirol midi controller keyboard PCR 300 and LINE 6 ux2 as the soundcard along with Sonar 8.5 Producer.
BIAB 9.5 ran perfectly on my system and I've changed no devices or settings since updating to 2010. I installed BIAB to run on the C: drive and leave the realtracks & drums on the USB drive and have also updated to the latest 294 update.
A few other niggly problems but the main 3 are.........
1. 9 times out of 10 on exit of BIAB Windows tells me band has stopped working and I have to go to the task manager to clear it. 2. When saving a song to individual wave tracks, BIAB says it has stopped working, although on inspection it has actually done the job. Sometimes though it will miss a track out and it will have no audio at all in it. 3. When dragging & dropping an instrument track into Sonar the Biab window hangs and the view is scrambled and unreadable although the drop into Sonar works and the Sonar window is unaffected. Closing the actual loaded song in Biab puts the screen back to normal.
Hope some of the bugs get sorted out soon as it really is spoiling the enjoyment of a fantastic program, I don't want to go back to 9.5. Thanks. Jeff

*What do you have selected as the MIDI output synth?
*Also, do you have the "Use DXi" checked, and if so, what is the synth invoked there also?

Hi Jeff,
I found that updating from v9.5 to 10 can alter some of your basic settings so it is best to go through the settings again just to be sure jazzman

Hello Jeff,
1. This can normally be solved by downloading updated drivers for your NVIDIA graphics hardware. Check to see if this is applicable to you by right-clicking Computer and going to Device Manager | Display adaptors. It isn't specific to 2010, however it is specific to using the VSC-DXi.
2 and 3 might be symptoms of the same problem, since you are rendering an individual track in both cases. I haven't seen a problem specifically like that - does it happen with any file, or just one in particular? Try it with one of the demo songs included with the program and see if it happens with that file.

Hi All, Thanks for the replies guys. Mac, I have Vst/DXi ticked and at the moment it is using Cakewalk' TT1 but it is the same when the Roland VST is selected. No tick in the Route midi through box.
Andrew, I thought I had the latest Windows drivers for my ATI Graphics card when updating Windows but I will double check and let you know.
I guess it does point to graphics although no other software I use has a problem and no problem with 9.5 although it does not do 2 of the things that 2010 updates allow.
I'll also have a good look through the settings Jazzman - cheers.
Thanks. Jeff

PROBLEM UPDATE:-
Hi All/Andrew.
Windows 7 was telling me I have the latest drivers so I went to NVidia and downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card ATI Radeon HD 2600XT. Installed it and it does appear to be a later version and the problems have been solved. Superb. I have to fully test it but just tested the 3 problems I mentioned above and at the moment all is fine. Many thanks Andrew I wish I had asked for help 2 weeks ago instead of struggling. Thanks All. Jeff

Hi All , I've had time to test Biab more with your advice and after finding and updating the Graphics drivers it seems to have cured all the problems I have previously mentioned apart from when I do a wave transfer/save.
I first thought it was when I had the 'normalise' option box selected but it appears to only happen the first time I try to save a song to waves after staring Bib, no matter which boxes are selected. The message comes up in the window that the program is not responding however it seems to complete as the little windows ring keeps turning and the resulting wave files are created OK. If I save to wave a second time it goes through perfectly alright. Not a big problem but not quite sure why it does this. Maybe forthcoming updates will fix it. Regards. Jeff.

Jeff, quick off-topic question: You said you got an updated driver from the NVidia site for your ATI graphics card. These used to be two competing companies. Did they just merge?
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Slate VSX, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

My mistake I think Matt, I meant AMD's ATI RADION, I'm sure NVidia are still seperate. Jeff

I have just got my new desktop with an ati graphics card and have the same problem on exiting biab I get a dialog saying that biab has stopped working.
I have the latest driver for graphics card too, so wonder if there is any suggestions?
Would it be possible to disable these error messages within windows 7 32 bit by going into the uac (is that the right name?) do you think?
thanks Joe

Hi Joe, I'd try disabling the UAC and see what happens. I run Vista and have disabled that process because it used to cause me errors. In Vista, it's under Control Panel >> User Accounts >> Turn User Account Control on/off.
If it doesn't fix the problem, you can easily reactivate UAC.
Regards, Noel

Hi all, Just tried that Noel and it does appear to solve the problem although I'm not sure for security reasons whether to turn UAC back on when not using biab. Thanks. Jeff

If you go into the bb folder with the program closed, right click on the bb.exe file and tell it: 1. always run as administrator 2. run in XP compatibility mode You then won't have to turn off the UAC as "running as admin" does this for that program.

Thanks Silvertones, Seems to be working fine now although seems to take a little longer for the realtracks to process than it was since running as Admin with UAC back on but no error messages at the moment. Regards. Jeff
