Hi people this may seem like a basic question but it has me stumped.I have just installed BiaB2010 Everything, very happy with it.but I think I missed something on installation. If i go to midi driver set up the only driver it will let me use is microsoft one on the pc.Why is there no mention of the roland one that the user guide keeps talking about.I thought that all drivers came with the package.I dont remember the dialouge box on pg8 of the user guide the small one.Ok hopefully you will be able to help me out.the pc is acerx3812 quad core 750 gb hard disk 4gb mem also running win7 64 bit . Cheers Tom

Welcome to the Forum, Tom.
The manual is using the Roland driver as an example.
You do not want to use the Microsoft driver; it's pretty poor sounding.
You would want to install the driver for the soundcard you have, and then it will show up as a choice in BIAB. Please tell us more about your computer and soundcard, and we can give more specific advice. Drivers come from the vendor, not BIAB. In your case, since you have Windows 7 64-bit, there are still some soundcards that don't have drivers released yet for 64-bit.
Tell us more; we'll get it solved.
By the way, if you don't know what soundcard you have, perhaps it is built in to the motherboard. Go to Control Panel, Hardware & Sound, Sound and tell us what you see.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Slate VSX, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Hi Matt thanks for the quick reply, after doing as in your post this is what I see seakers io|2 Alesis default,Speakers realtek HD audio not connected, realtek digital output, realtek high def audio ready.Just to add to this matt I also run Reason and cubase5 on the pc with no problem.the monitor speakers are from m- audio BX5a's.The Key board is a remote 61sL from novation, but i am not using this with biab because it is not a midi key board, just controller with no built in sounds.Hope this helps , . Thanks Tom

If you want to give a 64 bit midi solution a try, Coyote Forte has a 30 day trial on the PGwebsite, or it might be on your install disk.
The Roland synth will not work with a 64 bit operating system.
Which is in my case why I use a Ketron Sd2 external midi box. You can hear how that is in the hardware section of this website.
They may have the Coyote Forte samples also, I think it sells for about $40.00 US.

Hi Tom. That info is helpful, but here come more questions, sorry.
You seem to have a Realtec soundcard so it is likely that is built into the motherboard. That's not so bad, but when you are ready to take the next step up, you will want to consider disabling the on-board Realtec and getting a better soundcard, whether internal or USB.
When you play MIDI, it can be produced by either a hardware device, such as the excellent Ketron that John mentioned, or by a software synth, such as the inexpensive but very good Coyote Forte. If you install either, you will see these as choices in BIAB (but in different places, so we'll get back to that another time).
You said Reason and Cubase both work on your system. This leads to two questions: 1) do you play MIDI files on either one, or just audio, and 2) what do you select as the output driver(s) in those programs.

Just Below the RH side of the MIDi Output window is a checkbox, "Use DXi" -- you have to check that to access any DXi synth. Check it and the synth selection list should pop up, choose the Forte. Forte itself will pop up, just hit the X to close it and then say Okay to the main MIDI Output window.
