Online help for BIAB 2006 doesn't work under Vista for some reason, so I come here to ask....

I have an M-AUDIO KeyRig 49 with BIAB and Cakewalk Music Creator 5. I want to use the Roland TTS-1 soft synth. How do I configure BIAB to use it? I've Googled and can't find anything solid.

Thanks!

Your so far back in time with 2006 that I can't help at all. I'm not sure we even had Dxi in 2006 to be honest. I'd grab and upgrade asap to 2010, even if you do the basic. To be honest getting, as Mac has been sayin' lately, the whole SHE-bang, is a good thang.

Now I don't sound like a french-irish canuck at all.

Yes, 2006 does have DXi. Gary Curran helped me with getting the right software and keyboard to work with 2006 in another thread.

So the question remains for anyone else who might be able to help me.

Thanks,

Greg

If the Dxi box is there you check that. Then up comes a box where you make further selections and in the top box you pull down the menu and find the TTS-1. You can load other stuff after that IF you want to. Like eq etc.

Okay, I found the TTS-1 in the DXi Synth button. When I select Synth Track it allows me to select the Cakewalk 16-track mixer board. I trust this is the right place to get going with things?

Thanks!

Not being difficult but I have 2006 2006.5 2007 2007.5 2008 2008.5 2009 2009.5 and 2010 current build so it gets real confusing going back that far. That's 9 versions and several builds back. When my car is that old it falls apart.

As a result of reading this thread, I went to BIAB and attempted to use the TTS-1 soft synth on an older computer that still has a previous version of BIAB installed on it. The example in the documentation shows VSC showing up in the list of MIDI outputs after it is selected from the DXI dialog box. On my computer, I can find the TTS-1 in the DXI selection box, and I can select it... but it never appears as one of the MIDI output options. In fact, NONE of the DXI soft synths on my computer show up as MIDI output options after I pick them in the DXI listbox. Is that normal? Am I looking in the wrong place? Missing a step?

The RH pane in the main MIDI window lists only NON-DXi stuff. They are not plugins.

All DXi will only show up in its proper place, as DXi synths. They are plugins.

That is as it should be.

How, then, does one extract the sounds for the TTS? If I'm phrasing that right.... How do you get the sound to play through the speakers in BIAB?

Thanks,

Greg

Keyed,
I've been busy, so I didn't see this thread.

Open Band In A Box.
From the Menu, select Opt/MIDI/Audio Driver Setup window.
Halfway down on the right side, it says Use VST/DXi Synth. Make sure that is checked.
In the drop down below that, it should say VST/DXi Synth Settings...[Cakewalk TTS-1]

That selects your TTS-1 as the output synth.

Click Audio Settings.

The Audio Settings Dialog should open.

Top right hand corner, select MME.

Click the AUdio Drivers button.

Select the device, both in and out, that your speakers are hooked to. I'm sorry I forget what you're using.

Click OK.
Everything else should be left alone for now.

Click OK again. This closes the Audio Settings Window.

Click OK in the MIDI/Audio Drivers Setup window.

Open a song, and play it. You should hear it from the device that you have your speakers hooked up to.

On the Toolbar, there is a button for DXi Synth. Press that, and it should open the DXi synth window and you should see the TTS-1 mixer panel. This only shows you that it is working, and you can adjust the sounds from here as well.

Gary

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Got it working, Gary! It is a little different sequence in BIAB 2006 -- I'll try and upgrade soon!

Thanks a bunch! Again!
