Hello all, Lets try again.Even though this has been asked before probably I will ask again.At the moment I am using the "Forte" software that came with BiaB but when the free trail is over I will be left with the Pc sounds that we all love?? Before you all shout buy the Forte I can't at this moment in time,whatever I do has to come from a store here in the uk.The keyboard controller is the remote sl from novation.But it has no sounds built in.I don't mind buying a new keyboard but which one, whatever I purchase will have to run reason/cubase5 as well as BiaB.The Pc is a new one so I don't want to start changing the internal sound card.Also I am very new to computers and music so a lot of the terminology is also new.The budget for a new keyboard well lets just say it doesn't have to be cheap and cheerful. Any keyboard with a built in GM-compatible synth will do the job.
You should visit your local music emporiums and auditon and try out various selections and make that decision on your own according to what you find.
An easy way to tell is that most all synths that are GM compat have the "GM" General MIDI logo on them somewhere.

Hello Mac thanks for that.Called in at my local store had a chat and had recomended the yamaha mm6 synth.To expand this tread a little what is your opinion on Garritan Jazz and Big Banb,and using it with BiaB.Like I said I am open to suggestion,but my knowledge of software based synths is v limited.

I've never used it, Tom. I have heard a few good things, though.
Ketron SD-2 is my MIDI synth of choice these days. Can't beat it.

I tried GJBB about three years ago, and even wrote the tutorial that was adapted and placed on this site. I really liked the sounds. That's the good part. Here's the rest:
Working with the Kompact (or whatever they called it) player was kind of annoying. One of the great features of the GJBB is that it responds to nuances of attack and volume. In BIAB, you have no easy way to provide those commands, so you will not hear the sounds as they should be.
I had a moderately powered Pentium 4 at the time, and it could not handle a full BIAB worth of sounds at one time, i.e., five instruments, in its normal mode. I had to load the 'light' sounds so as not to overload it. These sounds weren't bad, though.
Please remember that my experience is fully three years old. There may well have been improvements, new versions, etc. since then. I would be delighted if these problems have been solved, because the sounds really were good.
