I downloaded the latest updates to the RealBand & BIAB tonight. The system crashes have stopped! Woohoo!

1. However, when I went to import a song I created in BIAB into RB, it not only took off the nice reverb setting on the drums, but the MIDI was way out of sync with the real tracks. Meanwhile in BIAB, everything sounds great.

2. I tried to export to a DAW but found a bizarre thing where all the MIDI tracks were duplicated. Although I dragged each of the different tracks off of RB and they were labeled correctly, the actual MIDI data was the same.

I loved the arrangement in BIAB, why can't I get the exact mix in RB? What I am doing wrong?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
RickeG

The mixer in BiaB is separate from the tracks themselves.

RB has its own mixer that works a bit differently.

Transferring the tracks, it is a Good Thing that your BB mixer settings don't come along with those tracks for that could place RB in a bad situation, mixing-wise. Say that you had turned a track way down, but later on in BiaB you wanted to turn it up again. There would be less to work with and then there would be audio degradation. The inverse could be worse than that, say you had a track really loud in BiaB and then wanted to turn it down in RB. Well, if the track itself was printed loud, turning it down would only make a "blasty" sounding track less loud. That ain't a good thing either.

Notice tha any Audio tracks that you import from BiaB, the RB faders start out all in the same place. You must remix the song when it is in RB.

As for the sync problem in RB, that is very likely due to the MIDI output synth selection and the Latency setting there. Could just be that your RB is using the Microsoft Software Synthesizer and you have never gone into the Prefs and changed it to the "Use DXi" button and the VSC DXi synth that you are probably using in BiaB. And that can make for a completely different sound that has less fullness to it also.

I noticed the DXI option before I posted and did both check and unchecked the box. Neither changes the output. And yes the MS Synth table is selected when the box is unchecked.

I did discover something worth posting regarding the drag/drop method. Previously, I was able to drop the tracks onto my desktop and then paste them into my DAW. (The reason is RB takes ownership of the MIDI drivers while open and thus blocking Cakewalk the access.) I opened both to drag the tracks from RB to Cakewalk and they transferred over correctly. That is good news. That was the reason I was trying to work with RB. As long as I am able to drag directly into Cakewalk I am content with it not accepting the previous way via the desktop.

Thanks Mac. For my needs, BIAB to Cakewalk is the ideal interchange. I have tried working in RB. But, this ole dog just cannot feel comfortable in the new back yard. I suppose Cakewalk has a permanent customer whether I like it or not. Hey, BTW, I dug your little brother on the sax. That is a sweet instrument as well. Real nice tone. I am not familiar with the developments within the sax world, is that a new manufacturer?

Thanks RickeG

Thanks, RickeG.

Yes, Aizen is kind of new on the international scene, making good stuff.
