Question:
Why don't we have a big clock for BB like we do for RB? -- (or have I just not found it?)
Thanks

Well, BB doesn't do SMPTE timecode, for starters.

Yes, true.... but I haven't used SMPTE for over 15 years, and I use the big clock in RealBand all the time. I use it mostly just to see how long my song is... putting the cursor at the end and clicking on the clock icon -- easy.
In BIAB (unless there's a simpler way that I have missed... always a possibility), I can get the same answer by, let's see... in 4/4 time, multiplying the number of bars by 4, then dividing this sum by the tempo.... let's see, where did I put my calculator, or even my pencil. See what I mean? Anything can be done, but it would just be a lot easier to just click the button.
Plus, I bet there are some BIAB users who always really need to know the length of their musical cues -- writing musical cues for ads for example.
I bet this function would be baby simple to program. You think?

Well, in a way, that kind of calculation is already programmed into the Soundtrack Window feature. Of course, it is out of realtime there.
Good idea, if it can be incorporated to run a clock in the main view area. Don't see why it couldn't. Of course, whenever you add something to code...

Funny I just tried that with one of my songs on my netbook. So very small screen. I see the song time as 5:42 with 4 verses. Change it to 3 and the digital clock at the top says 4:18. And every time I click the tempo button the clock changes either up or down as appropriate.

Cool, John.
Can you explain what exactly you do to get the clock in BB?
Thanks,

Hi Brallan, I think a big clock would be a great idea.
If you just want to know the total song length though I think that BIAB puts in the window title (i.e. the blue windows bar at the top of the screen) once you have generated the song.
I do however think that the ability to see where you are in the song in minutes and seconds would be really useful.
Regards, Aubrey

Aubrey... Brilliantly simple! Thank you thank you.
I knew I must be there somewhere. I know that top line, title bar, is full of info... it's just hard to read. This might serve as a suggestion: make the fontsize larger, or configurable, or colored. And sometimes I have wrongly believed my system was crashed when in fact the top info bar was telling me to wait while it generates something or backs something up. (I know someone is gonna tell me I need a better monitor -- or better glasses. True.)
Thanks again.

Yup been in the top bar in the window for years, as far as I remember. The realtracks after they are invoked take it away until the generate, but I've been going through songs and writing down the times with 10 seconds added to come up with 40 minute sets for a while.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
