Using BIAB 2010 build 294 running from an external USB drive, but storing song (SGU)/WAV files on internal hard drive. O/S is XP Pro, SP3. DXi synth. Using a new Toshiba laptop that I haven't used with BIAB before.
I've used BIAB for years and done plenty of successful rendering of WAV files for separate tracks with previous versions, but never seen this (that I remember, anyway).
I get a WAV file that is the right length, but has nothing in it. It won't "play" on Windows Media Player (time value doesn't change). It isn't recognized as a WAV file by Sound Forge (an audio processing program). Some of the 5 tracks rendered OK, but a couple didn't. When I solo'd a track (RT guitar) and rendered the song, the complete song WAV file (with only the solo'd instrument) is OK, but the separate guitar instrument WAV is empty.
I'm getting the pesky "MIDI Output Driver in use by another program" message all the time, so I don't know if this has something to do with it. No MIDI In/Out driver is selected. DXi synth box checked. I've done the "reset to defaults" more than once.

Well, well. I tried again after making this post and now all separate track WAVs have audio! However, the piano track has a steady drone note added to it. This was already happening with the song.

First thing I'd try is a reboot of the computer to see if resources got mangled.
If that doesn't do it, try, inside BiaB, Options -> Return to Factory Settings

Are you using the built in sound system for output (headphone or line-out jack) or an external sound source like a usb interface?

I had this happen a few weeks ago when that yellow box popped up about device in use... My rendering was missing Midi instruments and contained only RealDrums. A reset of Factory Settings, reboot, and a couple of other things did NOT work. I got rid of it by changing my dxi synth to something else than what I was using (Coyote Forte) and then back again. Try changing your Midi Output Driver to MS GS Wavtable. As long as the Use VST/DXi is checked, the Output Driver is irrelevant. The key is to get rid of that yellow box. Thanks for the tips.
I don't have any external sound devices connected. Internal Realtek sound device is the only one connected (although not really used for what I'm doing). Using VSC DXi synth. No matter what MIDI Output Driver I select, I still get the little yellow "in use" box. Although it didn't seem to interfere with getting good WAVs for my latest try. Also got 3 GB of RAM.
