Another question is about recording with SD2. What's the best way to record a mostly midi song in RB when all the sounds are coming from the SD2? How do I convert a particular track to WAV? And then how do I make a "CD" or mp4 file for the combined tracks?
(Can I do it in BIAB too? i.e. recording all whole song on the Audio Channel in BIAB using the SD2 sounds made for all the midi tracks + the realtracks/realdrums?)

I use a small mixer, balance the sounds there with headphones. I have the mixer going back into the line or mic port. Fire up Audacity. Ensure the signal is working ok. Press Play. Use Audacity to clip off the first part of the file. Then do a fade in and out. Gain if needed.

The R Audio button on the toolbar will let you record from your line in. If mixing is needed, either use the built-in mixer or an external.

Thanks John and Rachael... I have everything set up correctly already throught a Mixer and I know how to record and adjust the levels VU etc... My question was more about "do I record each track separately onto a new audio track one at a time (vs all combined into a single audio track)... and if so (i.e. on separate tracks) how can I then combine them all into one audio track?

You need a DAW for that. Or drag the stuff to RealBand and try it there.

Dick, This is actually up to you. MY personal preference is to record all the MIDI tracks as individual audio tracks. That gives me a lot of control in the audio domain for effects, panning, volume adjustments and editing of a single track, instead of having everything clumped together in a single audio track.
However, there are people who do it that way, and have good results.
Doing as much in the MIDI domain as possible is good, but I still like to have control over individual tracks.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Thanks Garry... for now, just combining everything in one audio file would be adequate for me -- especially since using this external Synth (SD2) calls for a "slow rendering" (recording) of the song.... to repeat it for each track would just take too long.
My next learning curve will be when trying to learn tweaking the tracks for the best sound/mix... I'll probably have a tonne of more questions then... but at least I think most BIAB tracks for now are pretty much perfect... it's only when I record my guitar that I don't know what to add/adjust... compression, reverb, etc...

Don't throw away your VSC DXi or whatever software DXi synth you were using before you got the SD-2.
I often use the Direct Render function to grab a quick audio file of a project. The neat thing is that if you invoke Direct Render when the hardware synth is selected, pgmusic softwares will direct you automatically to the MIDI Output selection window where you just check the "Use DXi" button and then the Direct Render takes place using those sounds. And after the Render is done, the software will take you BACK to that window so that you can UNcheck it and return to your hardware synth settings.
Great for practice stuff, quick renders for demos or the like. The VSC DXi can still hold its own in the sound department, too.
And -- if a song is "All RealTracks" or All Audio Tracks, using the Direct Render process as per the above is fast and works just fine!
