hi, where's the option to set so that when I step advance ( i.e. shift right or left cursor in the notation window or for that matter it happens in the guitar fretboard window) the notes are played out ?

thanks

Charles, I'm sure people are not ignoring you purposely. If they're like me, they don't know of any provision like you describe, and they are waiting to see an answer from somebody who's clued in.

This admission of ignorance can serve as a bump, at least, even if it's no help in any other way.

Something similar happens when you enter note-based lyrics -- notes play as you move along to them. But that's not what you mean.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I used to use that feature all the time. It seems to be gone or I too have totally forgotten how to envoke it.

Couldit be that you guys are trying to use the feature on a RealTrack?

I don't know if RealTracks are supported there or not...

No, Mac, on MIDI tracks. No clue.

Do you know what it is and how to start it, please?

I'd first investigate the setting of, "Route MIDI Thru to MIDI driver" in the MIDI window...

Got this option checked. Still no sound with a "shift L arrow" which does indeed step it through the notes when viewing the Staff. I suspect this is a feature which is gone. Seems no one noticed till now! Wonder when we lost it?

That was it. Shift-arrow does it!

This is neat. It works in the notation window, in all three notation modes. Each note highlights red and plays in order, as you Shift-Arrow along. It plays the correct instrument sound for the channel selected. While it's red, you can move a note by 5 ticks (or one half-step) each time you press an arrow key without Shift. Melody plays forward and backward at will. For whatever it's worth, there it is.

So it didn't die at all, Dan. If you fool with it a bit, I am sure you will get it going as well, because there's nothing special about my settings. I am triggering a MIDI module. Perhaps it may not want to work a softsynth.

yep, that's exactly what is happening i.e. this feature does not work with softsynths i.e. at least in my case its not working with Bandstand. Furthermore, if instead of running Bandstand as plugin i run it stand alone and use a virtual midi pipe such as "LoopBe" it works fine. So I'm okay now but this would suck for folks relying on an instrument plugin.

The other issue is that one needs to remember to start the stand alone instrument. It would be nice if BIAB had an option where one could specify an external instrument to start upon loading a tune i.e. it would be part of the tune's configuration, not a global thing.

thanks

Works here (build 294) with the TTS-1 (a softsynth). However, it doesn't issue a note off - actually note on with zero velocity - until moving to the next note. The Midi Monitor confirms that. Cool way to hear the TTS samples loop til they droop.

well, I'm on build 2010 - 292 , and I would like for the note off thing to happen , going thru midi to Bandstand suits me fine, most VST ;multi instruments come along with their standalone version anyhow

Hi,

For that to work through a DXi synth while the song is stopped, you would need to have ASIO selected, with 'ASIO always on' checked.
