Ahoy y'all,
I'm new to the forum and couldn't find a prior article on this. What are you using to get MIDI events from your voice, a horn or, in my case harmonica? I see a bunch of software out there and the ones I can try have too much information. I realize it's a tricky proposition to get analog to digital (compared to the other way around) but I have to believe something out there can do a good job with a single instrument, devoid of any other sound, and with a good db separation from noise. I'd prefer something that will go from a mic to MIDI but if you're having good results going from mic to digital audio (.wav,etc.) then to MIDI I'd be open to that too.

Good luck, if someone has a rock solid solution to that they are going to be rich beyond belief.
Let us in on it if you can play a harp and get the midi to emulate it anywhere over 60 percent accuracy.

Somethings are best done live, and while there is a lot of things evolving in the midi world The ones mentioned are certainly the most problematic. There are wind controlers for wind instruments but i do not know of Harmonica and vocal tools. There was a program that converted Audio to mid as long as it was one track and simple. And as Mac said melodyne. But still it would be very hard to reproduce the sound afterward. What vocal synth comes close to the realism of live vocals.

Thanks y'all,
I know that you simply can't digitize harmonica over/undertones and wouldn't even try. I realize though, my mind sometimes comes up with melodies while playing harp or even whistling that my fingers would never find. I used a little freeware piece called "NoteWhistler" that I can find no longer and it would come up with a pretty accurate single line of melody from whistling, singing, etc. It was useful as a point of departure to build songs or for me to come up with odd harmony parts that I could then transcribe for the others in the band. I'll try the Celemony software. Coming from a horn player that's probably a good recommendation.
