When the current style of some song is added to the Favorites list (i.e., copied from the Recently Played to the real Favorites, using the ADD FAV menu button), it is recorded with no regard to its actual location. The Favorites list assumes that styles have to be in the chaos of the main BB folder. Later, of course, it can't find them, even if the style has been in the optional "Styles" folder all along.
This really needs correction. The Stylepicker also can't find the "Styles" folder when adding new styles individually. It does search that directory properly when Building a list, but at other times it just plays dumb.

Well, the real issue is the rules BIAB uses for where styles can go and is why favorites doesn't work. That's what really needs to be changed. BIAB looks for styles in the current folder, if it's not there, it looks in the C:\BB\ folder (or wherever you installed BIAB) and if not there, in the C:\BB\Styles\ folder. Period. So if you have a style listed in Favorites that is located in the same folder as the song (not in the C:\BB\ or C:\BB\Styles\ folder) and that folder isn't the current folder, it's not going to find it.
I think the answer is to be able to have styles wherever they are across the board (and as you say, save that information with the full folder location).

Hi, John. That sounds mostly right. My understanding of the search hierarchy is the same as yours.
But this one thing is not following the rules. All my styles are in D:\BB\Styles\, supposedly a legitimate place for them, where BiaB is supposed to look. But it doesn't always. The Stylepicker knows enough to search that folder and build a proper list. If I save a style individually to the Favorites list, (searching it out on disk by browsing) it gets everything correct and can find the style properly in the same D:\BB\Styles\ folder when it's asked to.
But when you save styles to the Favorites in that one particular way described above with the "ADD FAV" button , everything goes to hell. The process looks like it's working. The result appears normal. The list looks like it updated, Then when you return later, it can't figure out where the thing is and returns a message declaring its pathetic helplessness to proceed.
It seems that might be fairly easily fixed, since it's so localized. The other problem (about having to browse manually for styles when you are adding them to the Stylepicker) is probably the same problem. Somebody forgot to tell that routine as well to look around a little more. The X:\BB\Styles\ provision came along only in the last few years, so old code may not have got the word.

Thanks, Larry - I responded without actually trying it. That should be fixed. You really would want your favorites to be accessible...

I later noticed the Favorite Songs list is afflicted with precisely the same problem.
It's to be hoped that both troubles might be cured at once.
