Thanks for all the input guys. Focusrite asked me to send them a screen shot of realband when I try to set recording levels. It doesn't show anything I haven't said in my replies to them, but I sent it off last night. I guess I will just wait and hope. Time to get back to having some fun with my PG products. I have a question about realband which I will post soon. Thanks again...Bobby

I have Win 7 64, and have no issues with my M-Audio 2496, and being able to see all of the inputs and outputs on it. I also have no issue seeing all the ins and outs on my Asus Xonar D2X card. I also do not have any issues with my built in RealTek chip, although I've disabled it in the CMOS.

I'm thinking one of two issues. Either your Windows 7 install was bad, or possibly the chipset in your computer for your Firewire isn't compatible with your Saffire. One of the reasons I hate Firewire. You might also try updating the drivers for your Firewire card.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Hey, I had the Sapphire also when it first came out. I couldn't get it to work right in Win 7. I finally returned it and got an M-audio Fast Track II, which has been great. Seems to me I also saw some posts by other users who could not get the driver to work correctly.

I now have it all working. I would like to set the record straight. I had about 6 or 7 emails back and forth to focusrite, they answered everyone of them the next day. I think by number 5 they were trying to explain the system to me, but I did not comprehend. I posted on "seven forums" and received a reply that opened my eyes. The focusrite asio recording bypasses the windows system mixer completely. It does not work like an internal pci soundcard, which is what I was expecting. When realband automatically opened my windows mixer to set record levels and only the mic input was displayed (no spdif, no line,) I thought I was out of luck. If I had gone ahead and played my guitar(spidif selected in realband asio driver input) I would have seen the vu meter reading my input. The reason my windows 7 mixer only shows a mic input is because the drivers for the on board sound don't support it. For someone using a pci card that does not show all of their inputs, this too, is a driver issue for the soundcard.
Thanks everyone for your help. I'm very happy with my focusrite pro 24dsp now.

Are you expecting the Saffire to use the Windows Sound Mixer Applet?

I don't know the Saffire, but it would be odd if a high quality aftermarket Firewire sound device used that bit of software to control it. Typically there is *another* software mixer that installs with the device's drivers and software. Often it puts a new icon in the taskbar for access.

Maybe that's the problem...
