In the style picker where we can choose the various styles it exists a small checkbox "prompt preview" to hear promptly a style ; the problem is that when we choose a pre-listening of a realstyle it loads the song entirety, thus it is very long ; even if we are in a loop selection.
If someone now how to just load just a short section of the song so it will be possible to hear quickly a realstyle, it would be great

thanks a lot

I think what you want is the "preview on double click" this will let you sample various styles for the same chord progression.

Yes.

Once you have entered your chords on the chord grid for your song, you can use the "Preview on Doubleclick" option to audition what it will sound like from the Stylepicker window, searching for appropriate styles and also styles that may work and get those creative juices flowing.

I like to either check the "Loop" checkbox to the right of the songtitle window first, then hit Play and then open the Stylepicker. Each doubleclick on a Style will then load that style *into your songfile* and it will continue playing. With the "Loop" invoked, when your song gets to the end, it will simply restart from the beginning again, allowing you to stay in the Stylepicker window for as long as needed.

One can also highlight a section of chords and use the "other" Loop playback here, too, in order to audition a style over just a selected number of bars.

Sorry it's my english spoken that maybe too poor.
I have check "preview on double click" and the "loop" too. but when i double click the software load (for each realstyle) all the song ; so it takes a lot of time.
I was looking for a way to just have a little section to load not all the song.

is that clearer ?

thanks again for your precious help
Pierre

Again:

*Highlighting" a range of bars and then picking Loop Play from the Play menu will allow you to use the "Play on Doubleclick" feature in the Stylepicker window and only hear the chosen style play over those bars.

You have to do that *before* opening the Stylepicker window. The song must be already playing that loop from the Chord Grid View. Then you can doubleclick styles and hear them play over *just the chosen highlighted bars*.

Check the "Fast Generation of RealStyles" button if you are using BB2010.

This greatly reduces the realtracks generation time.

the "speed up realtracks" in the realtrack settings dialog window is checked too (by default in BB210)
so in your way of doing the realtracks is regenerating the complete song too ? or is it quicker ?

for example for ceora 32 measure with easy bossa quartet it takes around 30-40 seconds

the only way i find ,is to erase a lot of measure and the regenerating take less time, but when i find the good style i've to open, one more time, the whole song and to regenerate the realstyle ; it's a bit long and boring.

any other idea ?

Hi trentetrois,

I do what you do. Cut my song down to a shorter number of bars (usually 8) and have an A and B section (4 bars each). I then preview the styles. Realtracks take a little while to generate because they are not MIDI. I haven't managed to find a quicker way.

As a note, I often use MIDI styles when putting a song together because they generate in a second or two. This allows me to make chord changes, add bars, etc., and to "test run" the music very quickly. When I've got a song working how I like, I then start playing around with Realtracks/Realstyles until I find a backing that I like. As indicated above, though, I use a shorter "test" version of the song to do this.

All the best,
Noel

Hello Trentetrois,

It shouldn't take that long... How many choruses does your song have? What operating system do you have, and how fast is your computer processor?

Hi trentetrois

Here is how I do it, when I test out styles/realstyles
Before I start listen to styles, I :

1. Uncheck “Allow Lead-In Bars” (Opt-Pref-Count-in/Met) (I will not listen to lead-in for each loop)
2. mark the “bar” checkbox with the number of bars I will listen to ( I use 8 bars), don’t highlight, or cut song !
3. mark the “loop” checkbox
4. The 3 boxes under "loop" checkbox are numbered 1-8-1
5. In “Song Setting” I uncheck “Generate 2 bar ending” (this will get the music play more fluent through each loop).
6. Check “Preview on Double-Click” , so I can use doubleclick on the style

When styles are found, I only change the number in the “bar check-box” back to what it was before.

you've got the best solution !!

it's very quick and the chords still here just to retape the number of measure.

thanks a lot Roger you're the winner !!

Yup, unfortunately.

The only way to get back to the begininng (of either a whole song or a highlighted loop) is to wait for it to go to the end and start again.

Would be so much better if demo-ing a Style always started at the begininng.
