Hello,
No it doesn't save the last Melodist number you chose for that song. I suggest opening the Song Memo window and making a note of the Melodist number there. If you are trying to figure out what Melodist you used for a particular song, you could look for the style used in your song, since by default most melodists will load a specific style. e.g. #1 loads _DEPTHS.STY. You could click in the Melodist selection field and tap the down arrow until you see the style.
