The information regarding which Melodist was used is only saved in a limited format. For older files, it's possible that this information is lost.
When one uses Melodist, the information about which Melodists have been used is stored in the "Fav" (Favorites) button shown on the upper image below. From this list, you can see that #44 and #8 were the last two that I've played around with.
When BIAB is reinstalled, though, this information is likely to get over-written. What I've found as the best way of saving Melodist and Soloist information is to record it in Song Memo. This is saved with the song files and is easy to look up. (This is the lower image below.)
