Is it possible to get notation to adhere to the key signature rather than the chord of the moment? For example, in a song in the key of Ab, I have an Eb played during a Cm7 and then the chord changes to a B9 and a subsequent Eb is notated as a D#, then goes back to an Eb when the chord changes back, all in succession in the same measure. Without having to manually edit every such occurence, is there a way around this?
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks John, I had tried that but it doesn't seem to have any effect. (The "Use scale for chord enharmonics", not the white out )

Correct: It has no effect whatever. It's one of several mysterious, dead "features" in BiaB.
In editable Notation view, you can laboriously adjust individual notes to be sharps or flats. Right click on a note and read the menu.

Hi Paul,
If the offending accidental is on the Melody or Soloist track, here is what I do to get correct notation:
*Enter Notation View and click on the little grid to enter Edit mode.
*Click on the notehead of the offending note and select "Edit note..."
*In the Note Edit window that opens, there is a space on the RH side labeled, "Force Accidental".
You can select from choices in the little dropdown there to force it to the correct note.
Don't forget to Save when it is all corrected.
This will not work for the *other* autoaccompaniment tracks, though, as they will regenerate again when you hit Play or reload the song -- unless of course those tracks are Frozen.
Have Fun,
--Mac

Hello Larry, Quote:
It has no effect whatever.
Enharmonics for chord tones are automatically based on the chord. Enharmonics for passing tones are based on chords if "Use Chord Scale Enharmonics" is set to true. For example, on an F#7 chord in the key of Eb, the Ab note is part of the F#7 scale (as a G#, the 2nd of the scale), but is also part of the Eb key of the song. If you want to display based on the chord scale, setting "Use chord scale enharmonics" will display the note as a G# instead of an Ab.

Well, that's actually what I meant by "has no effect". Basing chord tone enharmonics on the chord of the moment yields results not always desirable, and the setting changes nothing about how that happens.
But holy cow, man. We care less about passing tones than about the chord tones. Why have a setting for passing tones alone -- and if it affects them alone, why is it not so designated in its menu? The functional distinction seems too odd to understand it immediately. Why mix things up so? I'll try to observe what that does over time, and maybe the point of it will dawn on me.
Thanks for the explanation, Andrew! I never would have grasped that unaided.
Edit: I never grasped it, because I never read up on it properly. This point is covered in absolute detail in the Help files, exactly as Andrew stated it. The feature still seems inutile to me, but it's fully explained.
