Dumb question:

Can I (how do I) , export from Real Band as a BIAB file?

I have opened my standard midi files in RB, converted the first 8 tracks to BIAB tracks and copied data into them, but can't find how to actually save it so I can open in BIAB. Maybe I am over-thinking this, or using RB incorrectly.

The goal is to import midi tracks to the individual tracks in BIAB (piano, bass, guitar, etc). The standard midi import in BIAB just puts everything on the melody track. I want to use some of my previously created trax and have BIAB generate others (i.e. drum track).

Make sense? Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks.

Well, you could generate the tracks (like drum track) in RB..

But saving MIDI as a type 2 mid file should make it open in BIAB on seperate tracks if it is a new file..

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Real Band is still basically a sequencer and it uses it's own .seq file system. It doesn't save files in Biab format even though it can open and work with Biab files. Like Rharv says, you can save a RB file as a midi file and open that up in Biab but I don't think that's what you're after.

i believe biab 2010 regenerates all tracks with each press of play, unless they're frozen, except for midi files imported to the melody track

like rharv i'm thinking you'll have more control over the session in rb

Sorry,
type 0 midi file saves everything on one track
type1 save everything on separate tracks

type2 is my own top-secret midi format totally fictional.
meant to say type1, but I have big pinkies; hit the 2 by accident

That's good, because I think the original thought was that the MIDI type 1 and type 0 was a Boulean anyway...

There aren't three options in booleans?

I like if/else better than true/false .. It gives me more options.

I don't think Peter's got 'em programming in Trinary up there.

Not yet, anyway.

There is a format 2 standard midi file type, but most sequencers don't support it.
Format 2 has any number of tracks, however, each track represents a separate song performance.
