I have recorded a number of pretty neat tracks of Flamenco guitar. Some with a MIDI beat behind, some with my own keyboard midi drum beat behind. Some with no beat. I have tried creating my own effects like duplicating the track and copying it to track 2 slightly out of phase which stretches the echo. I have used the RB reverb. Now I would like to flesh out the pieces. I have been told I am working backwards and should get all the bells and whistles down and solo over that using my BIB or whatever in RT however I find that a bit restricting and I just like to jam then edit the track of bad notes and anything I dont like. Now that I have a smoking track I am not sure how to proceed. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you may like it but you are doing it backwards that way. And creating a lot of trouble because of it. Still, if that's the way you want to do it, go ahead and give it a try, just be forewarned that it is likely going to take a LOT more work on your part to get things to line up and sound halfway good.

If you play and record using a click track you might pull it off. I for sure drift, and when playing without backing tend to slow down and speed up, just enough to screw the thing up. You can use a small 50 buck mixer and lots of software will allow you to use headphones for the click track. Of course you can practice with a metronome and foot tapping and get close. Sometimes sounds more human.

Many times this is exactly how our group PSR uses Biab. We record to a click track then if we want to add some BiaB parts we input the chord structure, set the tempo to match the click track then try different styles.
Everything will line up IF the chord structure and tempo is matches.
When you are at the checkout line and they ask if you found everything say "Why, are you hiding stuff?"

If you have any kind of MIDI drums with it you will be able to line it up.
If not you can use the ACW in Realband and set the bars to match your playing. I have done this numerous times.
Open your song, then click the ACW icon (looks like Dm if I recall correctly). When RB asks if you want to preserve the bar locations, say 'no'.
Play the song in the ACW and tap the F8 key on the first beat of each measure. This resets the bar locations and adjusts the tempo to match. Once done, send back to RB.
Save As a different name so you don't overwrite the original..
Then add realtracks as needed.

Thank you all for your input. Using a tempo click in my ear seems to work.
I opened a good solo in BIB and used the audio chord wizard to generate chords. I now want to put real drum brushes behind it and perhaps experiment with other instruments but was not able to get either to work. Any input?

Explain what didn't work a little better.. I am more of a RB user, but others here know BiaB really well and might be able to help with a little more info.

I get it! I am now starting in BIAB muting everything but the drums and sometimes bass and then recording. Haven't got as good a result as my original backwards way but I will keep at it for a while. I am interesting in constructing a song with chorus beginning and end. Lets say, beginning, melody, chorus, another section of melody and a repeat chorus then ending. Out of a line of track there are parts that could be a chorus and some parts that could be beginning and end etc. do I just cut and paste. How is the best way to organize this?
