Thank you for the update to this wonderful product! With this latest update, however, I've been experiencing periodic freezes and crashes.

- The first time I launch Band-in-a-Box after a system reboot I get a message stating that it has changed the default sample rate of my MOTU M Series ASIO Driver from 48k to 44.1k. That's fine, but it seems that if I click anywhere on the BIAB interface without waiting for at least 30 seconds after it has started it freezes and crashes.

- I'm working on a project previously created with BIAB v2020, but when I try to play it after adding new measures to the project BIAB instead displays an hourglass and freezes.

No crash messages in either case; BIAB simply freezes, obliging me to open the Windows Task Manager to shut it down.

Could this be ASIO related? Any suggestions? Thanks.

A few suggestions:
When it crashes, does it produce a crash report file that you could attached to an email and send to PG Music Support?

The problem may be ASIO related, as you have suggested. Try setting the Audio Driver Settings default to MME or WAS, and restarting BiaB.

Try returning to Factory Settings (Options menu).

Thank you for the suggestions, VideoTrack. I tried reset to factory settings and also both MME and WAS alternatives, but the problem remains for this project:

- Unedited, when I hit the play button the project displays an hourglass for about 10 seconds before playing. That's slow, but workable.

- When I add more measures to the project and then hit the play button the hourglass displays infinitely long, effectively freezing BIAB.

It's a very simple project.

No crash error generated by BIAB for me to send; I'd be happy to send the project file if you like. Thanks again.

That is a long song by BIAB standards. 12 x 14 = 168 bars. Does that exceed any limits??

Yes, a long song, but it shouldn't be restricted by the existing 255 bar limit.

It's long because it has a lot of repeats--I wrote it to improvise guitar over. smile

I think I've fixed the issue for this project. Here's what I did:

1) Started a fresh BIAB project.
2) Changed the key and tempo to match the problem project.
3) Imported the problem project by selecting File > Import > Import MGU Song

I can now add measures without issue. Maybe the problem file was corrupt? Thanks again everyone for your responses.

As a further thought, try disabling this feature (no guarantees, and you can re-enable again if there's no improvement):

OK, great. Glad you got it working OK. Yes, possibly a corrupt file (?)

Thanks for the tip. RealTracks sound quality is incredible, but currently I don't employ them. I choose MIDI-only styles because everything I create in BAIB I then export to MIDI so I have MIDI tracks to use in Reaper.

Do RealTracks play a role in MIDI-only styles?

Not that I'm aware of. There is a setting to substitute Real Drums for MIDI drums. If you have that unchecked, then everything should be MIDI.

Great tip! I've run into the drums export issue before (all the instruments are exported to MIDI except the drums). Thanks!
