Before warning that the computer would revert to Single Density ram, we should first find out what kind of computer we're talking about here.

For example, there are plenty of laptops out there that don't take advantage of DDR ram at all. AMD lappies like mine don't, even though they came out when DDR was all the rage.

Besides that, as rharv already said, if it works, don't fix it.
