Hello.

I have developed for about 1/3rd of the code for
a tool in Renoise to click harmonously organized from 231 chord types as of in version 3.01.231 (update please!)

I would love a similar interface added to Band-in-a-Box.

The tool is actually .zip with inside .lua (text) script.
Inside the tool is a "Chord definition" list.

Yikes. And this chart is just a subset of all chord types.

I thought I had a good knowledge of possible chords until I saw this, which contains chords I never even envisioned as possible. What does a sus2#11 sound like? No clue.

Implementing it in BIAB would require substantial enhancement programming of MIDI. Implementing it for RealTracks is another matter entirely, involving re-recording of tracks or making extensive substitutions that would render many of these advanced chords moot anyway.

Of course, I would love to see support for these, and play with the sound. +1

I am not sure what would be possible as far as adding in more chords to the program due to some of the things Matt Finley said above, however, I've gone ahead and passed this request along all the same!

Cheers,
Ember

An impressive list.

All things considered, this is a worthwhile suggestion.

Wow, Look at these monsters! EatMe,very cool!
I think Matt is right for the most part...

But in short, I do support your idea.+1!

In long:
"harmonously organized". I just finished typing an opinion of recently discovered (but not young) software Harmony Navigator by Cognitone. It has an interesting "Chord palette", but it is not only organized/sorted, it is dynamic. Meaning, it would show relations to the chord pressed to other chords in the pallete. And has several rules that can be chosen of what kind of relations and color schemes are used to display these.

I believe BIAB is long due for upgrade of available chord builder...I hope when time comes for that, they will look at workflows of several chording tools, including yours as study and make a balanced decision.

Can you give us a link to a simple description of what this is, please?

EatMe,

ChordLord is a neat looking program. Does it require Renoise as a host or can it be used inside other programs?

I listened to some of your music. I especially liked your 2007 composition, "More or Less for Christmas".

I remember there was a Chord Picker Tool for Biab at one time.
It's in the forum somewhere.

And one for Reaper

>CMaj8

Does the 8 refer to doubling the root, so that the chord would be (from low to top) ....C E G C ?

If so C8 would mean the same thing as C for most people as chord symbols (in pop and jazz) don’t imply the voicings or inversions. (It is different in classical music).

Have Fun!

Hello dearest (all),

Thank you for your replies.
I will reply to the above questions below.

First of all I would like to notify you of (some) fixes and translations.

Version 3.06.235 got released and the translations secretly updated a few times before begin april, 2021.

There now is an English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian version.

Download the latest version of ChordLord:

Forum topic: https://forum.renoise.com/t/hurray-for-ChordLord/62253 ..
English version: https://renoise.com/tools/ChordLord ..
Version en Español: https://renoise.com/tools/AcordeSenor ..
Version en Português: https://renoise.com/tools/SenhorAcordes ..
Version en Français: https://renoise.com/tools/AccordSeigneur ..
Version in Italiano: https://renoise.com/tools/AccordoSignore ..

Your questions are answered below:

Matt Finley: ..For more details of how to use it, please visit the forum topic.
This also describes what it does and how to get it running.
Rather complicated to say in one line, it's a tool for Renoise serving chords.

ChordLord consists of LUA script (text only) that uses elements inside Renoise.

Renoise is a tracker (line per line for time) producing environment / D.A.W.
and it is possible to program functionalities for use inside Renoise.
ChordLord uses the Renoise LUA API extension to serve 235 chord types.

The chords in ChordLord are selected in harmony and displayed on buttons with informative text with full names on click. It's also possible to program arpeggio sequences of the chords inside the Renoise Pattern editor with, at the Options of ChordLord, the Arpeggio checkbox enabled.

You can put the notes of the chord to the Renoise Pattern Editor when you enable Record in Renoise and click the chord buttons, with the optional arpeggio, advancing with step edit.

You can preview the chords with Renoise OSC server enabled to let ChordLord send the note data into Renoise when you click the chord buttons.

More info:
Forum topic: https://forum.renoise.com/t/hurray-for-ChordLord/62253 ..

Jim Fogle: ..Renoise is required as host of ChordLord.

To download Renoise: https://renoise.com/download ..
The turorials:
https://tutorials.renoise.com ..
https://youtube.com/LearnRenoise ..

PeterGannon: ..A C Major 8 is indeed a C Major with a C in the higher octave added. You can also see that in the description of the chord (when you click the button) in the ChordLord window: Major eight (octave)

Thanks all, I am currently still in a small debt for paying for the translations.

To answer Jim Fogle:

Yes, I have looked at the current chord builder in Band-in-a-Box.

It is similar.

I have only just found out that when you enable MIDI out in Band-in-a-Box that it previews the chords as well.
