Hi ClassicMan! When you import an Audio file onto a Utility Track, there are a couple ways to transpose it. If you are changing the key signature of your whole song, first click on the Utility track in the mixer then go to Track Settings | Transpose Automatically when Changing Song Key. Then you can go ahead and change the default letter C to any key you wish at the top toolbar. You could also change the key part way through your song inside of the Bar Settings dialog. Right click the bar you want the key change to start, then select Bar Settings.

If you want to transpose just this one track and not the rest of your song, you can highlight a portion of the waveform in the Audio Edit view. Then go to Edit | Transpose. This will transpose the highlighted section by increments in cents.

Visual transposition are for instruments whose notes are transposed on the music staff. For example, Bb Clarinet plays notes a Major 2nd interval higher than what's written. If you are using the Visual Transpose feature in Band-in-a-Box, this would by why the written notes are changing, but the pitch is staying the same. We also have a screenshot of how to turn off this feature, since this is not how you transpose the pitch.
