My overall volume level from BIB is very low in comparison to my other sound apps.

Is there a way to raise the volume output from BIB?

It used to be much louder; don't know what happened and how to fix it
other than turning up the global volume of my computer, then all my other
apps will blow my ear drums out!

Did you just switch to using that new "CoyoteWT" that was introduced a couple days ago ?

That synth produces such a low volume that it's nearly useless. There's supposedly a volume adjustment in the GUI (difficult to get at), but the adjustment has no effect. It sounds surprisingly decent, but its best level is far too low for anything serious.

No, have not switched to the new softsynth yet... Thanks for the tip about it.

This problem has been occuring for the past two weeks or so; have no idea why the overall
volume output suddenly dropped, BIB used to be good and loud, now, I have to really crank
my computer volume up to use it...

Strange...

Check your Windows volume. Hit the speaker button on the toolbar. The Volume control has a bunch of sliders. The Volume control on the left is the main volume. You should also see for Wave and SW Synth. Make sure those sliders are maxed.

Did you recently set the switch to 'normalize' your song? Based on whether it was one song or all songs ... for one song you might consider that you elected to 'normalize' it. After I had blanketly normalized about eight songs, I then found that the overall volume was way too low. Of course, it is a possibility that you set a global switch somewhere to tell BiaB to normalize all of your songs.

Can anyone help me tell him where there might be a setting that does this?

Hi, Ray.

That happens sometimes; I always find something has slipped in the signal chain. Sometimes I've only bumped a mixer fader by accident, or pulled down a software volume adjustment "just for a minute" and then totally forgot I did it by next day. An audio plug that is dirty or incompletely inserted can cause what sounds like low volume. Try rattling those a a bit, and check all your hardware and software mixers. Again.

I don't know what else to offer. It can be almost as annoying to have low volume as it is to discover the dumb-bunny maneuver I pulled to make it low. It's almost always a wobbly cable or a changed setting, even though you feel as if you've triple-checked everything already.

EDIT: The Windows volume that Rachael mentions sometimes seems to turn itself down mysteriously, so that's a must to check -- at least if you're using a motherboard soundcard or something else that depends on Windows controls.

Good luck!

I don't have that problem, measured on soundcard VU, output of CoyoteWT is equal to output of VSC DXi, hardware MIDI into Line In and a few other MIDI sources available here.

Check your soundcard's Wav out and Master fader settings for starters.

Thanks Rachel... This was the other 50% of the problem...

I didn't see in Windows 7, that NOW BIB has it's very own volume slider... It had slipped down just a bit,
raised it up, and all is well again...

You folks are so great! I always get an answer to my problems here!
