Greetings all...

I used BIAB to make a song today.
When I play the song in BIAB everything is as it should be.

However, my problem started when I brought the song into my DAW - Cakewalk By Bandlab - with the PG Music plugin. The song stops playing at around 3 bars too early... no warning, it just cuts out.

This is also happening the same way in Reaper. This leaves me to believe that the problem is with the plugin.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I should say that before I did the latest plugin update I wasn't having any trouble at all with the plugin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bobby

Bobby,
Try to eliminate Reaper from equation, by running a plugin as a "standalone" program and try playing back your file.

Reaper and BIAB-VST have been behaving themselves these days. So, no, I have not seen that issue recently.

Thanks for the comebacks...

My DAW of choice has always been Cakewalk by Bandlab. I've been using Cakewalk since version 3 by Twelve Tones System. (am I REALLY that old???) It's had it's quirks now and then over the years but for the most part it has worked for me. I've played around with Reaper a bit here and there - I even paid the $60 for the license. I figured that these guys are working hard to keep a great piece of software always improved. I chalk up not using it is because I'm just to lazy to start learning a new DAW. But I will start using it more.

Rusty... Great idea about running it as a stand alone. I'm out of the house right now but I will for sure give that a try later and let you know how I make out.

Thanks again...

Well, I think I may have found the cause of my problem. Fixing it is another story.

When I'm generating my tracks the plugin seems to be doing it. However, once it finishes generating there's an orange popup in the lower right hand corner that says:

"Windows audio session error
Input/output sample rates must match"

When I play the song through the plugin within itself, it sounds like it is being played under water... bubbly (I can't think of another way to describe it)

Unfortunately, this all sounds more technical than I have the know how about where to go to fix the issue.

Perhaps someone with better skills can point me to where I should go to clear up my problem?

Windows 10
BIAB 2021 Ultra Pac Plus (has all the latest updates installed)
Focusrite 8i6 audio/MIDI interface

Thanks so much!!!

Well... after some time trying anything and everything I could think of, I'm pretty sure I've fixed the problem. I removed and then reinstalled the drivers for my Focusrite 8i6. The BIAB plugin now plays normal within Cakewalk. Haven't had time to check it out in Reaper but will give it a try tomorrow.

That being said, the song is still ending 3 bars earlier than it should, but that could be because of something I did when creating the song in BIAB. I'm going to do another one from scratch and then see how that goes.

The sample rate mismatch error is fairly easy to fix without having to reinstall drivers. These are the instructions I send out when we come across this issue:

Quote:
Right click on the Windows Start menu and choose Run, then enter "control mmsys.cpl" and press OK. This will open up the Windows Sound control panel.

Under the Playback tab, choose your default audio device (with the Green checkmark), then click on Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and choose 16-bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality) and click OK. If there is only the option of 24-bit 44100 Hz (Studio Quality), choose that instead. While we're here, uncheck the option to "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".

Next, do the same on the Recording tab with the device that has the Green checkbox. Click Properties, go to the Advanced tab, and choose 16-bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality) and click OK. If there is only the option of 24-bit 44100 Hz (Studio Quality), choose that instead. While we're here, uncheck the option to "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".

Once that is done, click OK on the Sound window, then go back to Band-in-a-Box/RealBand/PowerTracks and make sure it is working.

Windows Updates often resets driver settings, so this is something that can happen often.

Let me give that a try. No real immediate problems but somethings I see an issue which causes me to have to reload ASIO drivers. Thanks.

So far everything is running great... no more error popups. The only thing I had to change was the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" which I un-checked.

I'm going to redo my song and see what happens when I put it into Cakewalk. When I did it with the original song it cut out about 3 bars before it was supposed to. In other words, it stopped before the ending. That being said, the song played as it should have in BIAB. Not sure what could have caused that but I'll give it another try later today and let you know the outcome
.
Thanks again for your help!!!

Good to hear Bobby, happy to help! I responded on your other thread about the ending, probably best to keep discussion over there for that issue.
