If Band-in-a-Box is starting to record too early, try the "From Bar #" option. Notice you can set the recording to start at any bar and any chorus.
Punch in recording (at the bottom of the dialog window) defaults can be confusing. The boxes are chorus, bar, beat and tick. The default is -1 which is one bar before the chord sheet starts to allow for a one bar count-in recording.
