Widescreen... The iPad plays widescreen movies fine... Multitasking... The iPad, like the iPhone, multitasks native Apps fine, currently multitask some third party apps such as Yahoo Messenger's notification and MDN notification just fine, and with the release of iPhone OS4 this fall, will multitask many other third party apps just fine. Flash Support... It will not support Flash, and probably never will, because Flash is a 32 bit application and iPad and iPhone are 64 bit Operating Systems... and Flash is a resource hog that eats CPU cycles. Camera/Webcam... With a 99¢ app, available now, the iPad will allow an iPhone 3Gs camera to be controlled and shoot pictures for the iPad and display them on the iPad... in real time. Other apps are on the way that will do the same thing with ANY bluetooth capable camera. phone/video call... The WIFI capable iPads work just fine with the iPhone version of SKYPE... and will make phone calls to any phone in the world using the built in microphone and speakers.... or to a Bluetooth headset. Removable battery... First of all, the battery in the iPad is dangerous to handle, secondly, the addition of a battery access port would add weight and complexity and cost to the iPad, and thirdly who needs a replacement battery when the iPad has a measured 11.8 hour life between charges, and a 30 day standby time? Memory Card Slot... The iPad was designed to be a Cloud based computing device with storage on the cloud. Which memory card of the 14 current standards would Apple have decided to include? Someone would have been excluded no matter which Apple chose. Most people have no need for one, why make them pay the cost for something they will have no need for? USB Port... The iPad has a USB port as part of the charging access port on the unit... and a accessory USB port is available for purchase for those who feel compelled to have one. However, the purpose of a USB card is rapidly being replaced by Bluetooth enabled devices. For example, Bluetooth printers are becoming standard. HDMI or VGA... Again, for the vast majority of iPad users, this is totally unnecessary, so why force users to pay for something they would never use. An accessory port with a video out port is available for those small percentage of users who feel the need for a small price. TV or FM Receiver... Apps are available for both of these to receive streaming music and TV feeds over the internet. Why have heavy hardware add ons to do something that can be done in software? CD/DVD or Bluray... These are now antique standards... If you want a movie ... download it from the cloud or from your computer. If you have it already on a DVD, use one of the available utilities to rip it to a file and import it to your iPad. OS X... iPhoneOS is a subset of OSX. However, apps are available that allow an iPad user to access both an OS X Mac or a Windows computer over the internet and fully use either of those computers. Text Editor... Pages is a full fledged word processor app, with the full ability to create content in either Rich Text Format, text ASCII, or in Microsoft Word format. Except for FLASH, the iPad has capability for all these things. In fairness, me boys, GDaddy still uses three old XP Desktops for my music at home, however I do music thru my I-Touch. I still have my original Mac Powerbook (for poetry/song writing in the woods)... and look forward when I can switch back to Mac totally for my remaining musical endeavors.

+1 to your post. In fact, I am laughing at all the pre bad press people were putting on the iPad, now everyone is saying how cool it is, you are starting to see it on CNN and MSNBC, Fox, etc.
I was taking a look at the amazing apps available for the iPad. I can't believe that PG music doesn't have an app for both iTouch/iPad. There are some bad ones, plenty of good ones and some great ones for less than $5. There are now music theory, ear training, jamming and improv apps that look great. This is the future!
What is needed now is further Bluetooth support for midi controllers. Keyboards, wind/drum controllers. Do away with cords and wires!
If you haven't checked out what's available, you should google iRealbook, iTrumpet, Prokeys, etc. There are now over 150,000 apps available and by next year there will be over half a million.
Please PG, let's get a good iPad app! A mini version of Band in a Box would be killer!

Yeah right, lets analyze this. Biab needs something to play, at the moment that's either a midi synth or Real Tracks. How many times do we have to explain to noobs that Biab has no sounds of it's own? Which one of those cheap apps is a $500, 128 voice, multitimbral, 16 channel midi synth that sounds as good as the Ketron SD2 so Biab has something to play? Then, is the gigabytes of sample files to go with that synth also going to be in the "clouds" or what? You're going to access huge sample files over some wireless network? You can barely do large multitrack disc streaming on a new quad core 4gb ram system now. Somehow I doubt an IPad is going to do it. Then, Peter is going to put the 80 gig and growing Real Track/Real Drum library in the "clouds" so they can be accessed by anybody? How exactly would that work? What kind of processing power would the IPad have to have not to mention memory or would the large audio RT/RD files also be streamable over some wifi/bluetooth/G4 wireless network in real time with no glitches or dropouts?
Potential is great GDaddy but you're beginning to sound like our friend in Vienna all emotion, no thinking.

It would be possible to put BB in the clouds, and would be very useful for some purposes.
But I remain conservatively skeptical on the general utility of cloud-based computing.
Assuming that the cloud is alway available then everything is wonderful. In ordinary situations perhaps we could assume that the cloud will always be available. After all, one can't easily plan against all possible hazards.
OTOH, if the cloud has an outage, the gadget degrades into a fashionable, attractive-industrial-designed boat anchor. Actually it isn't heavy enough to be a proper boat anchor, paperweight, or door stop. Perhaps it would at least be useful as a cup coaster to keep water stains off the fine furniture <g>.

It might end up akin to the 3 users over on the Mac forum waiting for an answer about some part of the un-ported software.
Marketing has more to do with having a useful device perform the useful task and meeting the perceived needs of the end user. When a bluetooth wind controller can match with a blue tooth stand alone synth and my blue tooth pc I'll be able to get my tongue out of my eye tooth so I can see what I'm just sayin'.

the cloud computing i am interested in , is what i was discussing the
other day with some good folks on another forum.
viz..in real time for example ten musicians all jamming together
via the net and recording to seperate traks in a daw. without latency probs.
it was generally agreed it wasnt doable at the moment or even in the future
even with upgraded net comms facilities at ultra hi speeds.
one of the basic probs being comms switch latency etc etc.
the ipad for some might be an interesting thing to play with ,
but with the A4 processor i see limitations.
i would sooner use a quad core i7 laptop once prices come down and lappies
are re engineered.
i just dont see the "oomph" power wise in the ipad to do complex things
requiring serious processing power//songs.
