....Then I noticed that for some reason if I started playback from any measure after measure 12 the audio on track 1 would cease to sound (no movement on it's meter either). Only the midi tracks below it would sound. But if I started playback from any measure 1 through 12 and let it run, all tracks would sound, including the audio track, to the end of the song.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

That is what happens when there are lots of time signature changes in the audio file.

Here's why:

Those "wandering" time sig changes that you invoked with the ACW are actually commands along the timeline -- in a serial string.

If you stop the Transport, it only has the last command sent.

If you try to start the Transport anywhere else, where another timesig has been invoked by the tempo map, the Transport is still "stuck" on that last timesig command that it got.

Only way around this situation is to always Rewind the Transport to the beginning and let it run from there.

I don't like listening to music that "wanders" in tempo like that. Therefore I don't let stuff like that go out the door. One way around that is to use the Audio to just get the parts, then kill that Audio track and kill the Tempo Map it invoked, then re-record the new MIDI tracks dead to the click. Or find a better audio file of the work if possible, one in which the tempo does not wander.

Still, people spend a lot of time trying to put a saddle on a dead horse...
