In BIAB 2022 you can now opt for the track names at the top of the Window to automatically be named after the instrument that track is assigned to instead of having the previous fixed list of names. However, this choice is not carried through the DAW interface nor thru MIDI export.
Here's an example:-
1. Check the option in Prefs for "Show custom track labels and descriptions". 2. Open the demo song for style _Michel.STY which is called "Forgotten Rainbow" and you will see that the 4th track is labelled "Strings1" and is set to GM2 49/1 "Strings and Bass". (Without the option in #1 it would simply say "Guitar"). 3. Either SaveAs MIDI or use the DAW interface to get the song into a multi-track recording session (I used CuBase).
You will find that the track name in CuBase is called "Guitar".
When I solo that track it doesn't sound like a guitar - playing it thru MIDI onto my Tyros4 it selects "Ensemble StringsBass" which is correct.
Surely if you have chosen to use custom track labels and descriptions then these same names should be used for the track when saving as MIDI or when using the DAW interface? Otherwise the result once it arrives in the DAW is confusing.
Steve, You are preaching to the choir! But I will give you a big AMEN Brother.
What you are reporting has been well known for the past couple years and can lead to all kinds of confusion. But like so many things in BIAB, there is a workaround. This takes us back to the full "Legacy" naming conventions from the turn of the century. Many use this to avoid the custom naming which did not get fully integrated into all the areas of BIAB. Your choice.
