Here's what I do on my computer.

1. Let's say I want to put everything on the E: drive (which would be your external drive). I create a folder called RealInstruments. So now I have:

E:\RealInstruments

Assuming your BIAB installation was installed to C:\BB, I then copy C:\BB\Drums to E:\RealInstruments\Drums. I also copy C:\BB\RealTracks to E:\RealInstruments\RealTracks. You should now have:

E:\RealInstruments\Drums, and
E:\RealInstruments\RealTracks

2. Then, in BIAB, I tell BIAB that RealDrums are located at E:\RealInstruments\Drums and RealTracks are located at E:\RealInstruments\RealDrums.

3. Test it out to make sure it works. Once satisifed, delete everything under C:\BB\Drums and C:\BB\RealTracks, but keep those folder names there (even though they are empty. So you should see C:\BB\Drums and C:\BB\RealTracks with no files in them.

4. When you get future BIAB, PTPA, RealBand, RealDrums, or RealTracks updates, the installer program will ask you where everything is. The location of BIAB, PTPA, or RealBand should be where you actually installed them (for example, C:\BB or C:\RB or C:\PT - substitute accordingly), but the location for RealDrums and RealTracks should now be E:\RealInstruments (not E:\RealInstruments\Drums or E:\RealInstruments\RealTracks). The installation program looks for the parent folder of "Drums" and "RealTracks", even though inside the application, it actually wants the exact location (as in step 2 above), so be careful with that.

You should now be all set. Hope that helps.
