Hi, all-

My 17-year-old son Rafey just recently soloed on alto sax in the Rose Room of NY's Lincoln Center at the request of Wynton Marsalis as part of the Essentially Ellington festival. Thought to share with my fellow PG friends.

Best wishes from San Francisco,

George

Very good, George. Your son is a great player, as are ALL of those kids. My God, they really know how to run a jazz music program in Albany.

I was watching a couple of the other videos, and the girls on drum and bass can really swing. That group is tight!

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Hi George. I thoroughly enjoyed the clip. You have a very talented son. Being there live must have been an incredible experience.

How cool is that? I am so encouraged! I loved your boy's reed techniques.

To see students this age playing so beautifully as they do blesses me and gives me hope that there are High School students that still care about music and see it as more than a series of bleeps and booms coming from a trunk of a car as it sounds too often in the neighborhoods in my home town. Anyway, it must have been a thrill for your son to be on the stage and an ever bigger thrill for the dad to see him on stage!!

Do keep us posted on his musical endeavors.

Cheers!
