Hello all,

I have an m-audio fast track pro and sometimes in realband I notice that the realdrums go out of sync with rest of the midi tracks which are using the vsc/dxi, so far I only notice it when recording and monitoring at the same time through the headphones of the fast track pro. Playback seems ok.

All the m-audio drivers are selected in realband. On the m-audio control panel latency is 256,sample rate is 44.1 and sample dpeth is 24 bits. Got the latest m-audio and realband updates.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as to changing settings on either the m-audio or dxi. I'm running windows 7 32 bit.

Many thanks
Joe

Joe, I don't have the equipment you do, nor do I use RealBand, but the one thing I see in your specs is the 24-bit sample depth. Real Drums (and Real Tracks) are recorded with 16-bit CD quality rate. Perhaps your sound card is getting confused by recording in one rate, and playing back (for monitoring) at another.

The test would be to record at 16-bits and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then you know exactly what the problem is and can look for a specific solution.

The other thing I would check out, Joe, is the latency setting for the DXi. It may be that the latency setting is too high, and things get out of sync because of that.

Hi again.

Unfortunately the above suggestions have not solved the problem and the intermittent problem remains with the realdrums going out of sync with the rest of the arrangement.

I am using the c_cowboy.sty and the realdrums are Nashville skip^2 style.

I notice it now sometimes on playback through the m-audio fast track pro, but once I press stop and then play again everything is fine, even though it starts at same point in song.

The main times I notice it is when it is playing part b in songs and I thought maybe because the realdrums are a lot busier then, that I wasn't hearing the beat correctly but having muted all but the realtracks and vocals something is not right. Once I stop the song and then play again at same point everything is back in sync.

Strange problem, any more suggestions welcome.

Many thanks
Joe
