Yeah, Stirling's free kick caught net. Unfortunately for England, it was the top of the net. So close. And the Thumper is right, too. Way too many yellow cards.

I remember a match between the U.S. and Germany in 2002 (?; age related brain fart possible on the date) in an elimination game. I was working in Bonn that month with Die Telekom (Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile)). The VP leading the team I was consulting to had an office bigger than my living room here in France. Sofa. Easy chairs. Coffee table. The works. He had staff set up a TV and run a cable connection into his office so we could watch the match. Germany won 2-1, but all 6 Germans in the room admitted that the U.S. was the better team that day and that Germany was really lucky to win.

I can say the same thing about the French win. I think England played a really solid match, and were unlucky not to come away with the victory.
