When I use the mix, it take about a bar after I hit the fader to have level go up or down.... so I am always guessing. Does everyone have this problem... and is there is a solution. I don't have any latency problem with my keyboard as a controller...it is just with the mixer

Look in the Preferences, Audio for the "Fast mixer" checkbox.
Here's the situation: Some older computers will respond faster with that box checked, but many newer computers may actually work faster with it unchecked, so try it both ways.
Another thing, I find it to be a bit faster here when using ASIO drivers as opposed to MME, likely there is also a latency factor in there, but from what you describe I'm pretty sure that most of what you are getting is due to the Fast Mixer Moves checkbox.

I see no 'fast mixer moves' check box under audio preferences, 2010.5. Is 'quick volume change' what you're talking about? That is unticked by default. I have nasty latency for any mixer tweaks as well, at the moment.

Yes, "quick volume change" is what it must read, sorry.
Note that I've found it to work either way on different systems: Older systems, it worked better when checked, newer and faster systems it may work faster when unchecked. Just try it both ways and settle on the one that the music responds to the fastest after a mixer move.

OK, thanks. I'll have to try and see if that helps. I use MME at the moment at work, but I don't think that figures in really. All my other software behaves fine with it. We'll see. I'm not really sure why anyone would want latencey in the mixer at all. It should be fast by default. Why this is an option I'm not sure.
