I use a POD X3, and want to add POD Farm 2 as a plugin. I emailed Line 6, and they said it probably won't work with PowerTracks because:
"POD Farm 2 will run as a Plug-In Effect, so long as it's a supported recording software program that can host VST/AU or RTAS Plug-In Effects."
They also said " I visited their product page and based on the information that was made available there, it does not appear that VST Plug-In Effects is something their recording program supports. Unless there's additional info that you might know of through direct contact with them, I'd say that POD Farm 2 VST Plug-In will not launch inside their recording program."
I so much want to use POD Farm 2 within PowerTracks. Any of you have experience getting it to work and launch within PowerTracks?

No experience with the POD. (disclaimer)
However - many, many VST plugins run inside Powertracks, so I'm not sure where he got that info. Saying PT has no VST support is way off. Unless the slash between the VST and AU is significant somehow, as normally AU is a whole different plugin format.
I can't vouch for this particular plugin but I have run quite a few VST guitar plugins here. Wish someone with personal experience would chime in.

I'm using Pod Farm 2 with Real Band, so I'm assuming it will work similarly with Power Tracks. I have Power Tracks 12 on my laptop, and could give it a try, if needed. With Real Band, you have to add the VST, which is done under the dxi menu. Search the Power Tracks help for "VST", and it should explain the procedure. I'm having to go to the store with the wife, so can't stick around right now, but I'll check back later and try to leave some more detailed instructions. But if Pod Farm 2 works as a VST with Real Band for me, I'm assuming you can also access it under Power Tracks.

Okay, back from the grocery store, so here it goes... From Pod Farm 2 help:
"Where Can I Find the POD Farm 2 Plug-Ins On My Computer?Most DAW “host” applications will scan and find your POD Farm 2 & Elements Plug-Ins automatically on launch. But if you don’t see POD Farm 2 or Elements* Plug-Ins in your host’s Plug-In menus, then you’ll need to configure your host’s Plug-In options to find them (such options are typically found in the host’s Preferences).
*For POD Farm Elements Plug-Ins: You’ll see these appear as 11 individual Plug-Ins within your DAW host’s Plug-In menus, titled “POD Farm Guitar Amps”, “POD Farm Delays”, etc.
You have some options during the POD Farm 2 installation to tell the Plug-Ins where to install, but if you did not define a custom location, here is the default install location for each of the POD Farm 2 Plug-In formats:
• On Windows®
• VST® Plug-Ins are installed in \Program Files\Line6\POD Farm 2\VST\Line 6.
• RTAS® Plug-Ins are installed in \Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins\Line 6.
Note: On Windows® 64-bit systems, POD Farm 2 Plug-In files (as well as POD Farm 2 standalone application files) are installed within the \x86\Program Files\ directory path."
So, you’ve got to add these 11 individual plug-ins from within Power Tracks (I did this within Real Band). And now, from my Power Tracks 12 help:
"To select a VST plug-in for the first time, select the "Add VST plug-in..." item at the bottom of the plug-in Menu. Select a VST plug-in .dll file in the following Select a VST plug-in dialog, and it is added to the plug-in list. After you add each VST, the plug-in is permanently added to the list. You only have to add each plug-in one time.
To add VSTi synthesizer plug-ins, please make sure one of the 16 Synth Track slots selected, and use the plug-in menu on the top synthesizer slot.
VST plug-ins always appear at the bottom of the plug-in list below the DirectX plug-ins. VST plug-ins have the text "<VST>" prepended to the plug-in name, and VSTi synthesizer plug-ins have the text "<VSTi>" prepended to the plug-in name.
Note: Some VST host programs scan for all available plug-ins every time they start up. We decided not to use that method, because the scanning can take a long time if there are many plug-ins on your system. Additionally, a badly-written or corrupt plug-in could cause program malfunctions. Therefore, we feel the method of selecting only the plug-ins you wish to use is both safer and faster."
Hope that helps explain how to add these. If you can’t get it to work, post here again or PM me, and I’ll try to help, but it sure looks like you should be able to do this with Power Tracks, just like I’ve done with Real Band.
