So how do you play the drum kit, keyboard, etc. in stand alone mode.
If I choose a song/style and hit the record button, then I can hear the drum kit when I hit the keyboard in BIAB (not an external keyboard), or any other instrument.
I have tried default settings, looking at help, etc, but nothing works.
I had this working before, and it was a very simple setting change, but I cannot remember how to do it.
It cannot be that difficult.
Thanks in advance.

*Visit the MIDI/Audio output selection via Opts and tell us:

What is highlighted in the MIDI Output window on the RH side?

Also, please list all the options you see there on your rig.

Is the "Use DXi" checked or unchecked?

If it is checked, what MIDI DXi synth is selected?

Below the "Use DXi" is the "Route MIDI Thru to..." -- is it currently checked or unchecked?

If not using ASIO sound drivers (it will say, "MME" -- what is the number in the LATENCY box in the MIDI Output Window?

The above info will help to clear this up a lot faster.

On the right hand midi output side the highlighted area in blue is no midi/sound output.
Options are no midi/sound output, ms midi mapper, and ms wavetable sw synth.
Use dxi is checked and synth selected is Edirol SD 20 in GM 2 mode.
The audio is MME and driver latency box says 488 ms.
Thanks for your help. Let me know if you need more info.

Isn't the SD 20 a Hardware Synth with USB connect?

uncheck Dxi and make sure your usb device is enables this takes care of midi and midi in styles.

All midi is then routed there, and sound is, well as good as your sound.

Midi is midi is midi. If you take a regular midi file and play it can you hear it. I mean find one on your system without using band in a box and click that, you it should play.

If no sound the problem is outside of band in a box, though you can fix it inside.

Depending on your system go to sounds and fix it there.

Inside band in a box this is very straight forward. Midi then choose a synth you have. If you have a 64 bit O/S this is a problem, you don't have very good options, the 64 bit world is too new.

If using a 32 bit bit O/S the minute you hit Dxi it should work, unless you didn't install it when asked. It should be on the band in a box install disks.

I'd call support around noon EST today or GMT -8 or 9.

Try what John suggests - let's crawl before walking and if we can walk, then we'll try running.

See if you can get it to play back a MIDI file or even a BB song and hear it.

Tell us how you have that SD-20 hooked up, every cable and where it is going.

Maybe I'm missing something here but it seems to me if you have NO midi/sound output selected you won't get midi sound. Is that not the case? I don't use external stuff so I'm not familiar with how that may differ in BIAB re: setup of midi drivers.
Good luck.

That is correct. If trying to hear a hardware MIDI synth, the physical MIDI port, in this case the USB I'd imagine, must be highlighted.

Also, the "Use DXi" must be UNchecked.

Lastly, the USB MIDI device must also have its AUDIO output connected to the Line Input of the soundcard in order to hear the sounds it makes.
