First, I load a demo song in Band in a box that uses only realtracks, no midi at all. I generate the tracks by chosing play. I then save it with another name. I load this song in Realband. The bass is in MIDI along with a guitar. The other guitar which should be a fuzzy electric becomes an acoustic guitar. I then play the song which sounds completely different that the original in Band in a box. When I use Band in a box 2010 as the source, this problem does not happen. What gives? Any suggestions anyone? Thanks. By the way, I use Windows 7.
The instruments in the original BB file are All RealTracks: <Guitar, Electric, Rhythm HardRockLAFuzzySync Ev 120>, <Bass, Electric, HardRockLA Ev 120>, Pop Organ & Ac. Guitar. RockHardLA variation 1 RealDrums. I get a midi finger bass 34 instead of the Realbass.

Well I first need to say that I have the new versions however I don't yet have the new RTs. I did as you said and sure enough it does not load the song properly. The BIAB was all RTs & RDs and I end up with any mixture of RTs & MIDI.

I think they need to look into this. I had an arrangement all optimized in BIAB. When I loaded it in RB, I lost all the different comings and goings of the instruments which I had set up with F5.

THANK GOD this has been reported. I hate being the one who screams bug, but I knew this was a bug. It's just too easy to reproduce.
I'm new here- how long do they take to fix bugs? If it's gonna be a while, I going back to 2010 version of RB.
As I've said in my other thread on this, biab seems fine at 2010.5. When reverting back, is it best to revert both biab and RB? I do not have any of the new RT's, so no concern there.

Also, RT's will up and vanish without warning too. This happens consistantly to me. Any little tweak can make it happen. It's sporadic, but it happens at least once a session.
I figured if this is gonna be THE thread about possible bugs with the new version, get 'em listed now.

I suspect that the midi tracks are coming from the notation files for the real tracks. I tried it with a demo song and got a midi track and a real track for the same instrument, but the real track stopped rendering when the midi started. (2 measure count in). I selected the Piano real track and regenerated it and it sounded just like the demo.
Just a clue, maybe.

The problem lies in Realband. I have kept Band in a box 2010.5 and downgraded Realband to version 2010 and everything works fine. The realtracks are all there and no midi track gets generated. At least they have only to fix Realband. Hope they do it soon.

I have done the same- went back to RB 2010 and all works perfectly. Soooo nice. I used 2010 just once before going to 2010.5 and it was a struggle the whole time with it. 2010....good. I also kept Biab 2010.5. Hope they fix this up real soon.

Well guys if you roll back to 2010 you'll miss out on some other features that work well. The half time double time for one. I think Bob is correct in his assumption that some how the RT notation file is the culprit.I had that same thought and tested it to be true. You can just regenerate the track and all is well.
Now the minor lecture. You guys found an issue that needs to be explored by PG.Good work! By rolling back to 2010 you're saying "to heck with them let them fix things then let me know". Not a good attitude to have if at some point you're looking for help. Both of you are brand new here. Most of us here love PGMusic, their people and their business attitude. You'll not find better. So for us it's not an us against them attitude it's a "what can we do to help". Think it over. Put 2010.5 back on and help out.

Agree, but only to an extent.
It took only a couple minutes with my normal workflow to discover things were amiss in this new version. Notified PG right away. But it is not our responsiblity to explore work arounds for bugs which should be fixed. If PG needs help in trobleshooting this problem, then they should simply ask and I am sure there are folks in the forum with time on their hands to pitch in. But for those of us who don't currently have time to fix the problem only option is to roll-back.

Sorry but I can't reinstall a software that doesn't work. Try that with a word processor and you'd go nuts. By submitting a temporary fix, at least I hope I'm helping someone. I think PG Music is now aware of the problem and will hopefully fix it soon. There is another bug in Realband, in my case anyway. The conversion of a seq file to an mp3 doesn't work, even using a codec that works with other applications. Tha't not necessarily a Realband problem, more of a Windows 7 problem. Downgrading Realband to the 2009 version doesn't do anything. Thanks.

Silvertones.
Perhaps these fine fellows are just saying, "I've got WORK to get out the door, so I'll roll back the version for now in order to get that work done."

But of course I certainly wouldn't expect them to do otherwise however if you can get your work done AND help out consider it. The issue only requires that you hit regenerate. I can still work. D&D works. I'd rather use one of these work arounds and have half time double time available. Anyone using these programs that are waiting for them to be perfect in all ways and not willing to use work arounds has got a long wait. Just sayin'

Welp, looks like I'm headed back up! LOL!
For the record, RB 2010 is driving me a bit nuts too. I hope this fix release works out this stuff.

Btw- looks like biab got a new rev too. Perhaps the two must go hand in hand. Don't forget- update both.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
