Hi folks, me again!

I'd love to use a different synth to Coyote, and really want to add a Roland XV5080 to the BIAB Ultra prog which I have.
Is it possible to let a plugin synth, (an XV5080), voice all the midi in BIAB without an extensive knowledge of midi control?

Many thanks for reading. Any knowledgable responses appreciated!

John.

There may be an easier way.
According to the docs

https://manualzz.com/doc/o/noxfl/roland-xv-5080.-musical-instrument-user-manual-using-the-xv-5080-as-a-general-midi-sound-module#:~:text=The%20XV-5080%20features%20a%20GM%20mode%20%28GM2%29%20%E2%80%94a,modify%20various%20parameter%20settings%20for%20enhanced%20musical%20expression.

Your XV has a GM mode so make sure yours is in GM mode then click on options/preferences/MIDI driver then select your XV as main synth.

I said there maybe and easier way as I do not use VSTs in BiaB so I have no experience in this area and I don't own that VSTi so I can't experiment with it. But based on my DAW work with other GMs it should work.

Good luck and I hope this helped.

I know Roland hardware quite well and use a Roland Integra-7 with BIAB, but is the Roland XV5080 that you ask about a software product, or a hardware product?

BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Yes, exactly. It's an older hardware MIDI synth, unless somebody made it into a VST. If John confirms what it is, and it's hardware, I can help. There is already a patch map for this here: https://www.pgmusic.com/support_miscellaneous.htm

The use of the word Plugin here nudges me toward a software version, .. and there is one available.
As a programmer I understand the use of XV5080 in the question is a little ambiguous, but he did say 'plugin' .. not many people use that word to describe hardware

Roland VST XV5080 .. or Google it, there are many sources.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Very interesting, Bob. Thanks. What's old is new again. So we are still needing confirmation from John but you are likely right. Just for curiosity, I can't tell from the Sweetwater ad if this is GM compatible.

Hello guys.
I only have ten minutes before I need to get ready for work, so I'm still half asleep, but:
Yes, the 5080 is a plugin VST.
I used to own a hardware 2080, and now want the sounds again.
Sorry, but in haste;
John

Since it is VSTi then read my initial post as it may work.
