i THINK You should be able to just close the sign-in dialog and view the page (I can,although a few things work for me on Linux+Firefox, but not on Windows.

If it lives up to its promise and is GM compliant it just might be the ideal GM module for BiaB as well as maybe being able to combine their Real Styles with BiaB styles. This doesn't interest me but it may interest others.

I have a Ketron SD2 sound module in my rack, and it has one of the best GM sound banks that I've tried (I haven't tried but a couple of dozen synths, though).
I have no use for the arranger-in-a-box though, BiaB is plenty for me. Since I play drums, bass, sax, flute, windsynth, and some keyboards, I find myself doing more and more from scratch these days. Not that I've abandoned BiaB, when I need something quick and there is an appropriate style, or when I want to practice improvisation on sax or guitar, BiaB is a trusted friend.

Just about everything like still includes 5-pin MIDI ports. There are still plenty of "old friend" keyboards around that have only those. Even the new Genos2 has them.
Another reason might be the patching possibilities with them. Routing USN MIDI around cam be a pain (on Windows, anyway). It can sometimes be easier to just plug the right things into the right places.

For those that don't have the 5 Pin DIN MIDI port, there are USB to MIDI adapters available. Or at least there were, the last time I checked.
Over in the wind synth forum, there was a budget Roland model that only came with the USB port, and some asked about running a hardware synth with a $ pin DIN input. The interface was the answer.
I'm still in the Yamaha WX5 camp, and they have the 5 pin DIN output.

Don't consider it a correction; you're absolutely right that for most uses USB has superceded.
If, though, I wish to connect together my Kawai and my Korg, both have USB device connections and neither has a USB host connection into which to plug another keyboard, so I can't directly connect them together and send MIDI between them. I can only do that via a PC or a USB<->MIDI adaptor as mentioned by 'Notes'. Both, though, have 5-pin MIDI connectors, so the patch is easy. The same applies with connecting a lkeyboard to my Ketron SD1000.
In practice I generally use a PC in the middle, because patching MDI and audio around between hardware and applications is easy in Linux once one's learned ones way around the rather arcane Jack Audio Connection Kit. There are some Windows tools that achieve similar ... I'm thinking Camelot or Cantabile, but I think there are others and they appear sensible.

Yes, I have daisy-chained hard synths before. I use soft synths now so I am out of the MIDI connection loop. I still have my hard synths connected to my computer just in case I need or want to use them. Although the sounds are dated some are still very usable.

The Event appears to have both five pin and USB midi ports. Looking at the back panel image five pin 1 is labeled GM while five pin 2 is labeled keyboard. That leads me to believe the second port can access Ketron exclusive patches like real guitar and real drums audio loops. The set up could also support midi channels 1 - 16 with midi 1 and midi channels 17 - 32 with midi 2.
The most surprising thing at this point is MIDI 2.0 is not mentioned.
