Just about everything like still includes 5-pin MIDI ports. There are still plenty of "old friend" keyboards around that have only those. Even the new Genos2 has them.

Another reason might be the patching possibilities with them. Routing USN MIDI around cam be a pain (on Windows, anyway). It can sometimes be easier to just plug the right things into the right places.

Gordon, Thanx for that explanation. I haven't purchased a hard synth in years so I was very naive about those ports. I stand corrected.
