Hi,
I was fiddling around with some buttons I have never looked at to see what they do and now I find that something has changed. I can't find out what to do to restore the original settings. What has happened is that every one of my dozens of arrangements where I have programmed solos on Piano, Guitar, Vibes, etc. have all changed to some random gobbledegook of whistles, drum shots, rattles etc. Even new programmed solos all give these effects instead of that which has been selected.
Anyone know how I can get out of this please?

Hello Chris,
It sounds like the Soloist track got set to channel 10, which is the Drum channel. In that case, anything you entered on the soloist track would play drum sounds (unless the Soloist track type was set to multi-channel).
Not sure if this is what the problem is, since you would have had to specifically type '10' in the Opt. - Preferences - Channels dialog.
Try this: Go to Opt. - MIDI Driver Setup. Then, click on the synthesizer/soundcard pull-down menu and select "General MIDI Instrument Misc." If it's already select, still click on the pull-down and select it again. Then press OK to exit the MIDI Driver setup. This will reset some of the MIDI settings.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the help. I've tried that and it doesn't make any difference so I set it back to what it was (Roland VSC DXi). Should I perhaps click on "Return to factory settings" in the OPT menu?

That "Return to Factory Settings" can sort out a lot of things like you have envountered, worth the shot.

Hi Mac,
I changed it to factory settings and it still makes no difference. I think I might have to reload biab to put it right. I guess I can save all my programmed numbers in a folder somewhere first. Any other ideas before I do that.

Try going to the menu choice Opt., Preferences, Channels. In the Midi Settings dialog make sure the Melody Channel is 4 and the Soloist Channel is 8.

Hi,
Resetting Band-in-a-Box to factory made no difference? If you are using the VSC-DXi, the problem is most likely there then. Open the DirectX window so you can see the VSC panel. In the VSC panel, click the Reset button. Then, click the Setup button, go through each of the tabs and make sure all the boxes are checked.
