Hallo an alle, habe mir Realband zugelegt und habe festgestellt, daß die Abspiel-und Renderqualität der Real-Tracks um Längen besser ist als bei Band in a Box. Das ist auch gut zu sehen, wenn man die Frequenzen analysiert, ich habe mal zwei Frequenzanalysen als Bild angehängt, dort sieht man gut, daß bei BIAB die oberen Frequenzen viel schlechter behandelt werden als bei Realband.   Kann das jemand bestätigen, oder taucht dieses Phänomen nur bei mir auf? (Die Einstellungen sind in beiden Programmen gleich, der Qualitätsunterschied betrifft scheinbar nur die Real-Tracks, dort aber alle Instrumente) Grüße, Albrecht

das bestätigt meine Vermutung, dass RB mehr aus Powertracks und nicht aus BIAB heraus entwickelt wurde.
PT hatte auch immer schon eine bessere Klangwandlung als BIAB.
Benutzt Du den ASIO-Treiber? Ich denke, dass bei BIAB seinerzeit (ich glaube 2006) die Umstellung auf ASIO nicht so optimal war und nur "irgendwie drangehängt" wurde. Die Implementierung in RB - und damals schon Powertracks - ist besser und dürfte den dargestellten Unterschied ausmachen. BIAB war ja auch nicht nie als Aufnahmetool gedacht, sondern als Begleit- und Kompositionssoftware.

Hallo Ralf,
bis jetzt hatte ich nur BIAB ohne Powertracks, halt wirklich nur zum Erstellen von Übungstracks, daher kann ich zu dem Programm nichts sagen. Wenn ich doch mal darüber hinaus etwas verfeinern wollte, habe ich die Spuren als Waves exportiert und dann mit Logic oder Cool Edit weiterbearbeitet (oder noch etwas drübergespielt).
Aber momentan nutze ich BIAB nur noch zum groben Erstellen der Tracks, zum Verfeinern und Abgespielen nutze ich Powertracks, der klangliche Unterschied ist doch sehr groß.
Vielleicht gibt sich ja Powertracks beim Rendern "mehr Mühe", die längeren Ladezeiten deuten vielleicht daraufhin, während man mit BIAB mehr "auf die Schnelle" mal ein Backing erstellen kann, das dann aber nicht ganz so toll klingt.
Ob ich nun ASIO verwende oder nicht, macht qualitativ keinen Unterschied, nur die Latenz-Zeit ist etwas besser. Ich verwende aber momentan nur den Onboard-Soundchip, aber eine bessere ist im Anmarsch.

Hallo Albrecht, die Anschaffung einer guten Recording-Soundkarte kann ich die nur wärmstens empfehlen. Onboardsound macht bei Anwendungen, wie Du sie fährst, keinen Spaß. Man hört seine Lieblingsmusik im Radio ja auch nicht über Mittelwelle.  Muss ja keine teure Karte sein, Klassiker wie die M-Audio 2496 oder ähnliche PCI-Karten gibts ab 80 €. Oder eben USB-Module, die aber eine höhere Latenz haben. Zwischen den Karten und dem einfachen Onbord-Sound liegen wirklich Klangqualitätswelten. Das gilt erst Recht, wenn Du, was Dein Nickname suggeriert, auch mit der Gitarre über den Input der Soundkarte aufnehmen willst. Gerade hier spielt die Quaität der Klangwandler auf der Karte eine entscheidende Rolle. Habe übrigens bei RealBand gesehen, dass man bei den Audiovoreinstellungen die Klangqualität der Audiofiles in 8 Stufen zwischen 16-Bit, 22,05 Hz und 24-Bit, 44,1 Hz justieren kann. Auch sonst gibt es viel mehr Einstellmöglichkeiten als bei bei BIAB, was für eine generell bessere Audioverarbeitung bei RB spricht. Gruß Ralf

Hallo Ralf,
habe an meinem anderen Computer eine Maxi Studio ISIS von Guillemot, aber die läßt sich nur unter Win98 betreiben, welches wiederum mit meinem neuen Computer nicht mehr klarkommt.
Jetzt habe ich mir eine Creative Labs Audigy 2 Ex Platinum ersteigert (noch nicht angekommen), die hat auch eine Breakout-Box (allerdings nicht so viele Eingänge), die ich über den Digital-Ausgang meines Boss VF-1 ansteuern kann (Effekte kommen aber erst hinterher drauf, man muß ja nicht alles schon beim Einspielen verhuntzen).
Bei der Guillemot-Karte war eben gut, daß man 8 (Mono-)Eingänge gleichzeitig nutzen konnte (ich habe aber nur maximal zu dritt etwas eingespielt, das sind immernoch nur 6 Eingänge, wenn man Stereo spielt). Na ja, der Computer bleibt für solche Zwecke auch noch, aber für Powertracks und BIAB 2008 ist er doch zu schwach (1GHz-Prozessor und, was viel schlimmer ist, zu kleine Festplatte für die ganzen Real-Instrumente, man will ja schließlich auch noch Platz für die Projekte haben).
Bei RealBand bin ich noch am Probieren, was alles geht, es ist aber wirklich wesentlich mehr (klangtechnisch gesehen) als bei BIAB.

Hallo,
habe mir die Soundfiles der Real-Instruments im BB-Ordner nochmal angesehen, sie liegen in 16-Bit-Qualität und 44kHz vor. Falls man also nicht noch selbst Instrumente einspielt, wird sich die Klangqualität des Endergebnisses nicht verbessern, wenn man die Ausgabequalität höher einstellt. Von der höheren Qualität profitieren also nur selbst eingespielte Soundfiles.

Hallo Albrecht,
ja stimmt, beim Abspielen wird sich eine höhere Auflösung nicht bemerkbar machen, wenn das Ausgangsmaterial "nur" 16 bit 44 Khz hat. Allerderings könnte ich mir beim Rendern schon eine Verbesserung vorstellen, da ja hier noch ggf. Reverb- oder Chorus-Effekte in den einzelnen Spuren generiert werden, oder andere Effekte über externe plugins. Da bietet eine höhere Auflösung mehr Raum fürs Rechnen und mehr Reserven.
Jedenfalls hat PGMusic in RB mehr Audio Optionen als in BIAB implementiert, und das ist doch schon mal was. Vielleicht bieten die ja irgendwann mal auch mal höher gesamplete Soundfiles an.

bei 24 bit Aufnahme-Qualität ist auf jeden Fall der Dynamikumfang wesentlich höher, wahrscheinlich macht sich das speziell in besonders lauten oder leisen Passagen bemerkbar. Der Rauschabstand soll wohl auch merklich sinken, weil die Aufnahmen besser ausgesteuert werden können. Allerdings wird leider bei jeder Umrechnung von einer Auflösung in die andere aunweigerlich "geraten", mal besser und mal schlechter (hängt vom Algorythmus ab), und es wird Rauschen hinzugefügt.
Wahrscheinlich kann man nur probieren, was in welchem Falle am besten ist. Wenn die Effekte auch nur mit 16 bit laufen, ist ja sowieso alles geklärt.
Das ist der "Nachteil" an den vielen Optionen, man muß sie alle durchprobieren, weil jede wahrscheinlich für irgendeinen Fall die beste ist. Da gibt es ja auch den Punkt "Speed change Quality", bei dem in der Hilfe bei jedem Punkt ein "aber" steht. Ist aber gut so, das ist der Unterschied zwischen "Diktatur" und "Demokratie".
Ich denke, im Pop-Bereich ist der Dynamikumfang nicht so groß, aber z.B. mit der Jazzgitarre
könnte es schon sein, daß man mit 24 bit hörbar bessere Ergebnisse erreicht.
Meine Soundkarte ist immer noch nicht da 8-(
Aber wenn sie da ist, werde ich mal in der Richtung experimentieren.
